LSU Fans Are Trying To Use Garth Brooks To Lure Ole Miss Coach Lane Kiffin To Baton Rouge

If it’s Garth Brooks you want, LSU has got you covered. We’re still weeks away from the end of the 2025 college football regular season and there are already a ton of high-profile jobs that have opened up this season. Teams like Penn State, UCLA, Oklahoma State, Florida and most recently, Auburn have parted ways with their coaches already, and there’s no doubt that more teams will be making a change when the season ends. The biggest job to open up so far, though, is in Baton Rouge. LSU parted ways with head coach Brian Kelly last week, a marriage that seemed doomed to fail from the very beginning after the Massachusetts native showed up on the bayou and tried to fake a southern accent. Kelly was the only one of the last four coaches for the Tigers to not win a national championship in his first four years at LSU, and the failure also ended up costing LSU athletic director Scott Woodward his job too after Louisiana governor Jeff Landry got involved. (Landry wasn’t happy with the contract that Woodward gave to Kelly, which included a $53 million buyout). One of the biggest names being thrown around for all these open jobs is Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin, who has the Rebels sitting at 8-1 this season and tied for third in the SEC, behind only Texas A&M and Alabama. Kiffin doesn’t have any ties to any of the schools with job openings, but he previously coached in Florida as the head coach at Florida Atlantic and seemed to enjoy the Florida lifestyle, so Gators fans seem convinced that he would take the job in Gainesville over LSU were he given the option. But LSU is almost certainly the better job, with a better chance of winning a national championship in Baton Rouge. And Tigers fans are using whatever they can to convince Kiffin to come to LSU – including Garth Brooks. After this past weekend’s game against South Carolina, Kiffin shared a video of a rockin’ Vaught-Hemingway Stadium singing along to Garth’s classic “Friends In Low Places,” even tagging the country singer in his post. @garthbrooks https://t.co/X0JDfTdPVj — Lane Kiffin (@Lane_Kiffin) November 3, 2025 Of course there’s another SEC program that’s closely associated with a Garth Brooks song: LSU happens to have adopted “Callin’ Baton Rouge” as one of their signature songs. It’s played at every home game, and when Garth played the song during a show at Tigers Stadium a few years ago the reaction from the crowd was so loud that it registered as a small earthquake. So if Lane Kiffin likes Garth Brooks, LSU’s got him covered: i think you’d like this one more pic.twitter.com/S41d4E3MsI — Hayes Major *FIRE BRIAN KELLY* (@hmg_4124) November 3, 2025 Yeah not close….but I know a place that set off an earthquake to one of his songs… pic.twitter.com/tuvcFcc87w — TC (@tcgoldrush) November 3, 2025 Sounds great when he’s singing Callin Baton Rouge. So is Baton Rouge calling? — NOLA_P (@nolapivon) November 3, 2025 I feel like Lane knows damn well what popular song we’re all thinking of. https://t.co/p5zKTbMR6T — Preston Guy (@PGuy77) November 3, 2025 Calling’ Baton Rouge https://t.co/EKMpkXTs3w — Harold Reese Johnson (@GeauxLSUH) November 3, 2025 I know a stadium Garth plays in https://t.co/YVyGG1C6vc — Jon LSU (@JonDale22) November 3, 2025 Of course, there’s another job opening that has a connection to Garth too: In fact, the country music superstar is an alumni of Oklahoma State, so of course their fans made sure to point that out to Kiffin too just in case Garth Brooks really is the deciding factor in where coach ends up after this season. This is clearly a sign. Guess what Garth Brooks’ Alma mater is???! If you thought Florida, you would be WRONG. It’s Oklahoma State, so Kiffin to Oklahoma State is happening. Story soon. pic.twitter.com/ff5kh2AWs0 — HottyToddyTruth (@HottyTruth) November 3, 2025 Come on up to okstate! We can connect you with Garth and we song that song every home game! https://t.co/mgMH69YQZy — scking (@ScKing) November 3, 2025 Gonna go out on a limb and say that one’s more of a longshot. I tend to be in the camp that thinks Lane will stay put at Ole Miss, and probably get a pretty nice raise and contract extension at the end of the season. But who knows. His daughter Landry is dating an LSU football player, and maybe he really does want to hear “Callin’ Baton Rouge” every Saturday.
