It wasn’t completely unexpected.  But in the world of politics in 2025, who knows what will really happen? As it turns out, Nancy Pelosi has made it official. She will NOT be seeking reelection — though she will be finishing out the end of her current term in the House. She made the announcement today with a video. It’s not a tiny video, and it isn’t what you would normally expect from a retiring member of the House of Representatives. It’s a lot more dramatic than that, which is EXACTLY what you’d expect from Nancy Pelosi! Just wait till you see the highly-produced video she dropped a short time ago via social media, describing herself as a woman of the people. And (it hurts to even type the words), painting herself as a devout servant of God… Claiming that her heart cry was to be an ‘instrument of thy peace’. There are several that come to mind — but that pile of baloney she just shared on X is definitely not one of them. Maybe handcuffs and a perp walk?  We can only hope, and pray. The rumors about her possible exit have been swirling for awhile now. But she was apparently waiting until after the Proposition 50 legislation that her and Gavin Newsom cooked up passed in California, according to Fox News: Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will not be seeking re-election after completing her current term, she announced in a video Thursday morning. “There has been no greater honor for me than to stand on the House floor and say, ‘I speak for the people of San Francisco.’ I have truly loved serving as your voice in Congress, and I’ve always honored the soul of Saint Francisco — ‘Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.’ The anthem of our city,” Pelosi said in a voiceover. “That is why I want you, my fellow San Franciscans to be the first to know I will not be seeking re-election to Congress. With a grateful heart, I look forward to my final year of service as your proud representative as we go forward.” Her constant clashes with the president, including tearing up his State of the Union speech while sitting behind him as he delivered it in 2020, earned her the nickname “Crazy Nancy” by the Republican commander-in-chief. Rumors of her potential retirement had swirled for days ahead of the explosive news on Thursday, but Pelosi’s spokesperson said she would discuss her political future after California voted on a referendum allowing state Democrats to redraw the state’s congressional map. “Speaker Pelosi is fully focused on her mission to win the Yes on 50 election in CA. Any discussion of her future plans beyond that mission is pure speculation. As she has said, Speaker Pelosi will not make any announcements about her future until after Prop 50 is settled,” spokesperson Ian Krager said Monday. That measure, Proposition 50, passed overwhelmingly on Tuesday night. As you would expect, the mainstream media is simply beaming about how great and wonderful Nancy Pelosi’s reign of power has been. Which is why I literally laughed out loud looking through some of the breaking news reports. Check out this ABC News affiliate’s video report that broke the news in Los Angeles. The last line ironically reeks of Biden’s own claim that he could have won again if he’d just stayed in the race! Scanning through those left-leaning mainstream outlets, I couldn’t help but notice that CNN is even giving her credit for being the ‘chief architect’ of Obamacare! Her, and Chuck Schumer, apparently share that distinction co-equally (is that a DEI statement I just made???), as reported by her own dearly beloved CNN: Nancy Pelosi, the first and only female speaker of the US House of Representatives and one of the most powerful figures in Democratic politics for decades, has announced she will not seek reelection. The announcement ends heightened speculation in recent days that the longtime Democrat would soon announce her intention to draw her congressional career to a close after 38 years. She was widely expected to leave Congress after this term, her first in decades as a rank-and-file member. Pelosi was first elected to Congress in 1987, and made history as the House’s first-ever female speaker in 2007. Her time leading the House Democratic caucus included two separate stints during which the party held the White House and majorities in both the House and Senate. During those years of full Democratic control of Washington, Pelosi, alongside then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, followed by Chuck Schumer, muscled through enormous pieces of legislation, including the landmark Affordable Care Act, of which Pelosi’s team has described her as the “chief architect.” Years after drafting that health care law, Pelosi then helped Democrats win back the majority in 2018, fueled by anti-Trump wave on a health care-driven message that was a direct result of the Trump administration’s repeated attempts to repeal the law. I’m sure there will be a firestorm of coverage coming on the heels of this news. But it’s official — Pelosi is OUT at the end of this term. Now the question is this: Who will attempt to fill those shoes worn for so long by the wicked witch of the west? As far as I can tell, that has yet to be even remotely answered.
