Riley Green is in the home stretch of his Damn Country Music Tour, which rolled into Grand Rapids, Michigan last night with his friend Jamey Johnson, where they of course teamed up for a duet of Johnson’s’ hit “In Color.” It’s a song that Green has covered for years at his concerts, and he told the crowd during the concert last night that it has actually been about twelve years at this point, which is really hard to believe… he’s always named Johnson as one of his musical inspirations, so I’m sure it’s pretty surreal to have Johnson opening up for him now. Of course, “In Color” was co-written by Johnson with James Otto and Lee Thomas Miller and recorded by Jamey. He released it in March of 2008 as the first single from his 2008 album, That Lonesome Song, and it ultimately became Johnson’s first Top 10 country hit with a peak at number 9. It went onto win Song of the Year at both the 2009 ACM Awards and the 2009 CMA Awards. It’s his signature song, and even though Riley and Jamey are friends and Riley’s obviously a fan, they really haven’t performed it together a ton so this is really cool to see.
