Keisha Gerber lives with her five children in Blackford County, Indiana. Keisha has a very busy schedule, and for 12 years, her next-door neighbor, Nina Osgood, has been a godsend for the mother. The children adore Nina, and they all care for each other like family. “She’s amazing,” Keisha told WANE. “That lady would give the shirt off her back… She does everything for me and my kids.” Nina told WANE she helps with the children when Keisha is at work. Sometimes she helps them get ready for school, and other times she helps with wardrobe repairs. Anything the kids need, Nina will provide. But recently it was Nina Osgood who needed help, and the kids jumped right in. Nina Osgood’s Home Caught Fire The children noticed that Nina Osgood’s home was on fire and rushed in to save their beloved neighbor. “It was black smoke rolling in when Nina was coming out, so she was like coughing,” one of the children told WANE. Keisha Gerber shared the story on Facebook, and it blew friends and loved ones away. “I must give a shout-out to my kids. They were heroes today. If my 8-year-old daughter Brenna, my 7-year-old nephew Grant, and my 11-year-old son Reece hadn’t noticed the smoke coming from her kitchen window while they were in our kitchen, & of course Kailyn for waking me up to call 911. We would have lost so much more than what was already gone,” she wrote. “They saw the fire and smoke and acted right away! They rushed over to wake our neighbor, shouting for her to get out of the house; they even had the courage to go inside and rescue her.” “Omgosh Thank you Jesus for your kids quick reactions and thoughtfulness!” A friend wrote. “Great job kids for your fast response great job keshia for teaching your kids,” another person agreed. Nina Osgood said the children saved her life. “They say, about 15 more minutes, I’d be dead,” Nina said. “So they was little heroes.” What incredible kids. Their mother must be so proud.
