For many people, co-parenting with an ex and their new partner is a challenge. Seeing the person you once loved in love with someone else is extremely emotional. But every once in a while, a very special relationship forms in the most surprising way. For more than a decade, Amanda McCowan has coparented her children with her ex-husband Joshua Maples and his current wife, Angela Maples. In 2022, Angela began experiencing health problems that required dialysis treatment. Sadly, doctors told her the prognosis looked grim, and it was time to look for a kidney donor. “Your kidneys are completely failing. We may need to talk about other arrangements. I knew what that meant. I didn’t have much time left,” Angela told Fox 4. Amanda and Angela had their ups and downs early on. “We’ve been through so many coparenting situations in the last 10 years, some of them not so great, honestly. It’s hard. Co-parenting is hard,” Amanda said. “I joke that she is the tequila to my margarita.” As the years passed, the women solidified a strong relationship by When Angela got sick, Amanda made a big decision. Amanda Looked Into Being A Kidney Donor For Angela “I ended up getting a call from the care coordinator. She said, ‘You’re not just a match. You are a perfect match,’” Amanda said. Joshua told Fox 4 that the entire situation is nothing short of a miracle. “I knew it was God. There’s no other way to put it,” Joshua said. “It’s been a lot of healing and growth. She does her clinics and Amanda and her, they both talk to each other several times a day, just checking in on each other, from big things to small things.” Right now, the woman is doing well post-op op and Angela is fighting.
