Massive Abandoned Ghost Town In The California Desert (Wasteland Spotlight)

Today's Wasteland Spotlight takes us to the abandoned ghost town of Eagle Mountain California. The town is located at the entrance of the now-defunct Eagle Mountain iron mine, once owned by the Southern Pacific Railroad, then Kaiser Steel, and located on the southeastern corner of Joshua Tree National Park. There are over 400 houses that stand empty on the towns deserted streets, and tucked away in the back of the town is the deteriorating and abandoned prison that closed its doors forever in 2003 after a deadly riot. Modern abandoned ghost towns like Eagle Mountain are more rare than the older style people are used to seeing when they hear the term "Ghost Town," but they are out there. Join me as we explore the town and learn more about its history, as well as discuss some lessons for the post-collapse world that can be learned from the ruins. ?
