One good thing that came from this government shutdown is the way it put on display the total disaster that Obamacare is. There’s no need to sugarcoat it: as it stands, the U.S. healthcare system is horribly broken. Yet, Democrats are still pushing for more Obamacare — which is ironically called the “Affordable Care Act” — despite the fact that it has only benefited big insurance companies, not the American people. The overall issue of healthcare is going to have to be dealt with because the system has failed. Everyone, I think it’s bipartisan, now admits it. What we’re doing now, writing checks to health insurance companies, is not getting us any better outcomes.” It’s time for reform. President Trump seems to recognize this and has already proposed a better way. He wants to take the money that is usually given to health insurance companies and give it directly to the people instead, so that they can choose their own, better and cheaper, insurance.
