Here’s Why Country Fans Think Ed Sheeran Might Be Featured On Megan Moroney’s Next Studio Album, ‘Cloud 9’

Are we getting a Megan Moroney and Ed Sheeran collab? I think it’s a strong possibility… Yesterday, Megan announced her third studio album Cloud 9, which will be out everywhere on February 20th, 2026.Moron ey says she can’t wait to start a new chapter in her music career, and adds that these songs were written by the “strongest, most confident version” of her: “I am so excited for my fans and I to dive into this new world of Cloud 9 together. Similar to the first two albums, it’s all written about honest, personal experiences, but these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been. My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love. Cloud 9 is a state of mind, and I have no doubt this will be the best chapter yet.” I’m sure you’ve seen the album cover and all pink everything by now, but the color scheme for this new record will be pink, as she says goodbye to blue which defined her Am I Okay? era… and I’m SO here for it: View this post on Instagram The announcement post on Instagram also showed the back of the album, though all of the songs were blurred out except for already-released singles  “6 Months Later” and “Beautiful Things,” in addition to the title track “Cloud 9.” If you count the rows, it looks like there will be 15 songs in total, and in all likelihood, there will be at least one or two collaborators on there as well. A few of the song titles are pretty long, so of course, fans are already speculating about who might be some of the featured artists. and I’ve already seen several people throw around Ed Sheeran’s name, who is a British pop star that Moroney has performed with before. They sang together at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville earlier this year, and then again at a pop-up show at Brooklyn’s KidSuper last month. so this is definitely Ed Sheeran thanks for helping me crack that @emogirlinmirror https://t.co/mhUNCmDSkS pic.twitter.com/f9a0OXaBB8 — ethan is on cloud 9 (@ethansflavor) November 12, 2025 But here’s the real kicker… we know for a fact that Meg and Ed have written a song together, because it’s registered by their publishers on BMI and ASCAP’s Songview platform. Titled “I Only Miss You,” the song was also written by Micah Carpenter, Mackenzie Carpenter and Ben Williams, all three of which have collaborated with Megan on multiple songs for both, Lucky and Am I Okay?. It looks like there might be one other collab, and Moroney has also performed several times with Canadian pop star Tate McRae, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see her on there, either. In terms of her musical heroes, Moroney has named Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves as her favorites, so maybe we could see on of them on a song too. We’ll just have to wait and see once the full tracklist is revealed. Sheeran has worked with Luke Combs in the past, and has expressed more recently that he wants to eventually get into country music, so I think this would be a natural fit and great duo. @keepingupwithhopie a duo we didn’t know we needed !!!! @Megan Moroney @Ed Sheeran @Ed Sheeran HQ #meganmoroney #edsheeran #privateconcert #brooklyn ♬ original sound – Hope Spinner The album announcement comes as Moroney gears up to perform at The 59th Annual CMA Awards, where she’s tied for the leading number of nominations. She is up for Single of the Year with “Am I Okay?”, Album of the Year with Am I Okay?, Song of the Year with “Am I Okay?” (shared with songwriters Jessie Jo Dillon and Luke Laird), Female Vocalist of the Year, Musical Event of the Year for “You Had To Be There” with Kenny Chesney and Music Video of the Year for “Am I Okay?” (shared with director Alexandra Gavillet). “6 Months Later” “Beautiful Things” The post Here’s Why Country Fans Think Ed Sheeran Might Be Featured On Megan Moroney’s Next Studio Album, ‘Cloud 9’ first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
