The White House experienced backlash to its 50-year mortgage plan and the President was reportedly embarrassed by that. Now they are going back to the drawing board with a better idea: portable mortgages. The idea is that homeowners could take the terms of their current mortgage and use it to buy a new home if they want to move. This would massively benefit all of those homeowners who secured low rates during the mortgage crisis and the pandemic. This is a better idea, sure, but it still keeps the power of perverting the free market square in the hands of the Federal Reserve. A better idea would be to end the Federal Reserve!
