Which Artists Have Won The Most CMA Awards?
The most decorated acts in CMA history.
With the 59th annual CMA Awards airing live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville in just six days on November 19th, the buzz surrounding the show keeps growing with each passing day. With Lainey Wilson, Ella Langley and Megan Moroney leading the way with six nominations across the 12 major categories, Zach Top, Morgan Wallen, Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton are also among the night’s top-nominated artists.
Notably, Langley continues her incredible hot streak with “you look like you love me” (featuring Riley Green), receiving three separate nominations for Single, Song and Music Video of the Year. Additionally, she is nominated for Female Vocalist and New Artist of the Year.
Zach Top is also riding the highs of his debut album, Cold Beer & Country Music, last year, as the “Use Me” singer received five nominations in Male Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (“I Never Lie”), Single of the Year (“I Never Lie”) and Album of the Year (Cold Beer & Country Music).
Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, Morgan Wallen, is nominated for three awards, including Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year (I’m The Problem). He will compete with Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton in an attempt to become the first back-to-back EOTY winner since Combs himself did it back in 2021-22.
And as the anticipation for this year’s awards continues to grow in the days leading up to the show, I thought now was the perfect time to take a walk through the CMA’s history and find out who the most awarded artists of all time were.
To no one’s surprise, the likes of legends such as Brooks & Dunn, Vince Gill, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton and more dominate this list, all scoring at least 10 CMA Award wins throughout their careers. With that being said, however, there are quite a few surprises throughout the lengthy Top 10 list.
Tied for the #1 spot with Brooks & Dunn is none other than Chris Stapleton. Though it might seem nearly inconceivable given the fact that Stapleton has only been active as an artist for a decade, he’s captured a staggering eight Male Vocalist of the Year wins, along with various other awards over the past decade. In fact, with just one more Male Vocalist win on Thursday (barring a Brooks & Dunn Vocal Duo win), Stapleton will take full control as the most awarded artist in CMA history.
As for other surprises on the list, Taylor Swift appears, tied at the #9 spot with the likes of legends, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, The Judds and producer, Tony Brown. Additionally, both Luke Combs and Lainey Wilson are also already present on the list, also being tied at the #9 spot with the aforementioned artists with 9 career CMA awards.
Finally, it should be noted that there are plenty of “Artists With The Most CMA Awards” lists out there online today; however, many of those are littered with faulty information, both in the order of the artists themselves and the number of awards won. For this list, the total amount of wins, nominations and the awards themselves have been accessed directly from the CMA’s database. Simply put, it’s an accurate collection.
Without further ado, these are the artists with the most CMA Awards in history.
