Luke Combs Reacts To Surpassing Garth Brooks As The Highest-Selling Country Artist Of All Time: “I Feel Like I Haven’t Been Doing This That Long”

He’s crushing it. With the 2025 CMA Awards taking place tomorrow at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, many of the artists have been doing tons of press leading up to the event, including Luke Combs. He’s up for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Single of the Year for “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma,” and he’ll also be performing. In addition to teasing new music and an album that will likely be released next year, Luke is gearing up for his My Kinda Saturday Night tour, and he recently just reached another huge milestone in his career. He broke Garth Brooks’ record as the most RIAA-certified country artist, with 168 million certified units compared to Brooks’ 162.5 million. This new record recognizes Combs’ total certified sales and streams for both albums and singles. Combs has 34 certifications in total, and he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon… at just 35-years-old, he has plenty of time to continue that streak and make it that much harder for the next person to break it. And during an interview with Katie Neal of Audacy’s Katie & Company, he admitted that it was “unexpected,” and he didn’t really feel old enough to be breaking such a record… but it’s really a testament to his success, considering how quickly he reached that point when you consider that he really hasn’t been doing it all that long, relatively speaking, compared to someone like Brooks: “Yeah, uh, just kinda unexpected, for sure. I was just like, ‘Man, really? That’s kind of wild.’ I was like, man, I feel like I haven’t been doing this that long. But then I have, kind of, at the same time. I’m 35, though, I’m not super old yet. I’m getting there.” Neal joked that Combs is just now old enough to run for President, to which he responded: “This is my first year eligible for Presidency, okay? My first year.” The people love Luke Combs, and he’s far from old, but it’s incredibly that he’s already accomplished such a huge record with hopefully decades more music to come. If anyone else will ever break it one day, Combs is sure going to make it hard to do… @combscentral The legend that you are @Luke Combs #lukecombs #music #country #interview #cma ♬ original sound – Luke Combs Central Luke’s My Kinda Saturday Night world tour will kick off in March of 2026, and you can check out the full list of dates below.
