Robert Irwin Has An Absolutely Heartwarming Tradition Before Every “DWTS” Episode
Robert Irwin is one special young man. Not only is he a wonderful ambassador for his home and conservation work, but he’s also one heck of a dancer. Robert gets his love of animals from his dad, the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. Steve died in 2006, and while Robert was only a small child, his family kept his father’s spirit alive. Robert Irwin also keeps Steve Irwin close to his heart in a very special way as he trains for Dancing With The Stars. He opened up about the tradition on Instagram, and it might just bring tears to your eyes.

Robert Irwin Wears One Of Steve Irwin’s Shirts
Robert Irwin explained in the clip that he wears Steve Irwin’s “tattered” shirt before he performs. He said he got the shirt repaired, but loves that it still “looks and feels” like his dad. Robert said it’s the perfect example of how his dad lived his life at “100%” all the time. He told DWTS fans that before they see him in costume dancing, he’s done the performance at least once in his dad’s shirt. “It just feels like a big hug,” Robert said.
Of course, fans went crazy seeing the shirt and loved the tender expression of emotion.
“When he said ‘my shirt,’ I immediately knew it was his Dad’s shirt! So sweet,” a fan wrote.
“You are doing an incredible job, Robert!! Your dances are incredible and the momentum you are bringing to your cause is nothing less than epic! It is a joy to support you and Whitney every week!” Another person shared.
The connection between Robert Irwin and Steve Irwin is so real, and fans love being able to see it blossom.
“I just melt when I ‘feel’ you talk about your father and the very special bond you shared. You speak with such affection for him. He would have loved the genuine, caring man you have become,” a fan wrote.
