Home Improvement is one of the shows everyone seems to have watched. Tim “The Toolman” Taylor and his wife, Jill, were raising three rambunctious boys, Brad, Randy, and Mark, which led to weekly hijinks. As the youngest of the three, Mark, played by Taran Noah Smith, became the butt of many of his big brothers’ jokes. But according to the actor, that all changed when he grew taller than the other boys. So writers created a character shift where Mark would embrace a goth persona. He explained that one day, while in a full-on goth wardrobe on set, he ran into another kid around his age who was nearly identical. Taran later found that the writer based the character shift on his own son. He recalled meeting the kid backstage once and having a “very awkward” moment. Taran laughed it off many years later, but he seemed sorry that the writer’s son became a storyline. Home Improvement Fans loved seeing Taran Smith. He’s not goth, but he has very long hair and a full beard. Now in his forties, he’s a far cry from the pesky little brother. “Omg Mark Taylor!!! I still watch Home Improvement till this day and have 2 ‘Tool time’ sweaters!” A fan wrote. Some liked Taran Smith’s goth Mark days. “They would put him in Skinny Puppy shirts sometimes and not just Marilyn Manson which I respect as a goth kid around the same age at the time,” a comment praised. This person seemed so excited to know Taran is well, all these years later. “I just watched this one bc im watching home improvement now on Netflix and I just thought what ever happened to him and so happy taran is doing well with his life,” they wrote.
