Randy Travis Goes Into The Vault, Releases Heartwarming Christmas Song “Where My Heart Is”
Reminding people of the reason for the season.
Over the last year, we’ve gotten new music from the country music icon Randy Travis thanks to the help of AI, which is one of the best things that has come from AI technology is bringing back the timeless voice of the ’90s icon.
If you recall, the “Deeper Than The Holler” singer suffered a massive stroke back in July 2013, which was caused by a complication of his congestive heart failure. At the time, doctors only gave him a 1% chance to live, but Travis pulled through.
While Travis surviving the stroke was described as a miracle, he’s has remained severely affected by it, developing aphasia and being extremely limited in terms of both speech and mobility. In fact, Travis’ wife, Mary, recently revealed that the doctors advised her to “pull the plug” on the 7x Grammy winner after he developed a plethora of different hospital-born viruses, including Serratia, Pseudomonas, and a staph infection while in the hospital.
Travis then defied the odds even further when he released his 2024 single “Where That Came From,” which scored him his first charting radio single in nearly 20 years. Travis followed up “Where That Came From” with another stellar single this year, “Horses in Heaven,” where Travis sings of how special he believes horses are. It’s genuinely the perfect homage to a cowboy and cowgirl’s best friend.
While Travis has proved that he is still a force to be reckoned with from these two releases, nothing hits like a song from the vault, and today, he’s gifting one of those songs to his fans. Given that we are entering the holiday season with Thanksgiving right around the corner and Christmas to follow shortly after, Travis is reminding people of the joys that come with the season each year.
“Where My Heart Is” was recorded before his 2013 stroke, and it truly captures his powerful artistry.
“’Where My Heart Is’ is special because it takes me home, and it’s from the vault. I recorded it before my stroke, so it’s a reminder of the blessings of yesteryear and the hope of tomorrow. Christmas time is a special time spent with family and friends, as we celebrate the reason for the season…hold those moments in your heart always.
We hope you, and yours, enjoy my long-awaited release in the warmth of the Holidays with those you hold dear.”
Randy shared with the help of his wife, Mary.

Although it’s been in the vault for over a decade, the words feel as timeless as ever. Matching these lyrics with Travis’ nostalgic vocals, it’s the perfect song, reminding listeners of Travis’ love for the holiday season, the joy of spending time with family, and creating tender moments with family that will be cherished for a lifetime.
“Don’t start celebration without me
You know I wouldn’t want to miss one thing
From hanging every decoration
To open the front door
When we hear carolers singing
And the peaceful quiet of fallen snow
By the fire on Christmas
I want to be where my heart is
With friends and family…”
No one does a timeless Christmas tune better than Randy Travis. This track is the perfect reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things this holiday season.
