Randall King Is A “Big Deal” In New Honky Tonk Heater About Life In A Small Town

He doesn’t miss. Today, Randall King released a brand new song called “Big Deal,” which is a good old fashioned honky tonk heater that finds him relishing in the fact that he’s a “big, big deal” in the small town he lives in. Written by Erik Dylan, Wyatt McCubbin and Nick Walsh, and co-produced by King and Jared Conrad, it finds King joking about how he’s a local celebrity for things like closing down a bar, singing karaoke and of course, some of their past relationships that are still a hot topic around town. This song will be included on King’s next album, which will likely be released sometime in 2026, and it of course opens with his signature wit and honky tonk production: “I can kill more beer on a Friday night Than most men can in their whole life, When the sun comes up, Hell, I still ain’t drunk” Randall comes from a small town in West Texas, and he’s lived every bit of this song, and he knows many of his fans still do, so he knows they will love it and relate to it as much as he does: “Big big deal incoming! And it ain’t no Black Friday sale! If you’re a small towner with a big ole attitude like me, then you know how it is round here. This one’s for you!” I love how consistent King is with every single and album release… he knows what he does well, and while he certainly has variety in his catalog, he stays true to his signature sound and Texas roots. And speaking of variety, back in July, King released a beautiful ballad called “I Keep Your Memory Around,” which was written by Adam Craig, Matt Rogers, and Drew Parker, and portrays a heartbroken man trying to muster the willpower to move on. While he knows being hung up on this former lover is not good for him, and he continues to hurt himself thinking about her, he can’t bear the thought of wiping his memory of this woman. King says it’s a reminder that there’s light at the end of the tunnel: “This song right here is for anybody going through a heartbreak, through a hard time, or just lost somebody. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, and you’re going to get there.”  Both of these releases are stellar and feel so true to who King is as an artist, and it’s exciting that he has a new project in the works and I can’t wait to hear it.
