Luke Combs Sported A Vintage $100K Omega Watch At The CMA Awards, Which Was A Birthday Gift From Johnny Cash To Elvis In 1969

Wearing an incredible piece of music history to the CMA Awards. Luke sported a flashy watch, which isn’t surprising in the least, as he is a known, avid watch collector, who once got the Pretty Woman treatment at a Rolex store in New York City… it’s quite a story you can read more about HERE. But this has got to be the coolest one in his collection… Luke sported a gorgeous Elvis Presley-owned Omega wristwatch at the CMA Awards on Wednesday, which the one and only Johnny Cash had gifted to Elvis for his birthday in 1969, when he would’ve turned 34-years-old. The inscription on the inside of the watch reads: “To E. From J. Jan 8 1969.” Of course, Elvis and Cash were early signees to the iconic Sun Records label, as Cash signed with them in 1954, and Elvis Presley began his career there in 1954, signing a contract in November of 1955. They toured together in the 50’s, and were close friends during the early part of their careers, and of course, are both two of the most iconic, influential musicians to ever live, so it’s truly an incredible piece to own. Take a look: View this post on Instagram As you can imagine, the watch sold for a pretty penny earlier this year, and went for a whopping $103,700 in July. The Goldin website states: “The provenance includes a letter of provenance (LOP) from Patrick Montoya, which states that Elvis gifted the watch to Elvis’ former bodyguard, Red West, in 1972, with the watch eventually ending up in the possession of the Fingerprints of Elvis Museum in the United Kingdom and purchased from the museum. Additionally, the piece is accompanied by a letter of authenticity (LOA) from University Archives.” Documents verified that there is a letter that states that Presley gave the watch to his bodyguard, Red West, in 1972. The watch had previously surfaced in a UK museum before being sold at auction, and is also accompanied by authentication from University Archives and a statement from collector Patrick Montoya. Montoya confirms the watch’s origins and transfer between owners over several decades. While Combs didn’t win anything this year at the show, he was up for three awards in Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Single of the Year for “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma,” and he also performed. And while it would’ve been great for him to win a trophy, I think that watch on his wrist is one of the absolute coolest collectors items for any music fan, and the fact that he now owns it is worth more than any trophy that’s going to collect dust on a shelf, in my humble opinion… I mean, it really doesn’t get cooler than that. I would never take it off… You can watch his high-energy performance of “Back in the Saddle” below, where you can also of course see that iconic watch onstage: Luke’s My Kinda Saturday Night world tour will kick off in March of 2026, and you can check out the full list of dates below.
