Landman Soundtrack: Season 2 Episode 2, “Sins Of The Father,” Features Tyler Childers, Flatland Cavalry & More

Another week, another stellar round of editions to the Landman soundtrack. Landman is officially back for Season 2, which kicked off last week with its premiere episode “Death & A Sunset,” featuring an impressive round of new music from Turnpike Troubadours, Charley Crockett, Ella Langley, Benjamin Tod and more. And then yesterday’s Episode 2, “Sins of the Father,” continued to run with some Tyler Childers and Flatland Cavalry. I won’t get into any spoilers on the episode, but things are getting GOOD. Here’s a quick summary on the episode… scroll on through if you haven’t watched yet. “Sins of the Father” The episode opens with Cooper hitting big oil on his sixth well, a massive win that should’ve been all celebration, but Ariana wasn’t excited and quickly ended their relationship, telling him she can’t see a future in the chaotic, high-stakes, world he’s building. But that’s just the beginning of Cooper’s problems… He finally lets his father in on his oil business and Tommy digs into the deal and discovers that Sonrisa — the company backing Cooper’s well — might not be as clean as it looks. Even worse, Cooper signed the major contract without a lawyer, and Nate suggests Sonrisa may be tied to cartel boss El Jefe Gallino. But the heart of the episode comes when Tommy visits his estranged father, T.L., peeling back old wounds tied to his mother Dorothy’s addiction and the kind of childhood that leaves marks you don’t outgrow. On the drive home, a breakthrough finally happens. Cooper tells his dad, “You did your best, and that’s good enough for me,” giving us a rare and powerful moment of forgiveness between two men with traumatic pasts. If you haven’t given Landman a shot yet, Paramount+ offers a 7 day free trial, so you could get up to speed and cancel before getting charged, but I’m betting once you see everything on there (including Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923, live sports, and Tulsa King) you’ll realize it’s easy to get your money’s worth and stick around. Landman Soundtrack Much like Yellowstone, the soundtrack features some of the best in country music, particularly from the Texas scene, the independent scene, a few of the modern-day Appalachian greats like Ian Noe and Charles Wesley Godwin. It’s simply fantastic. And Season 2 picked up right where Season 1 left off with another stellar round of country music songs to add to the playlist.
