Far-Left Media Personalities Rush To Blame President Trump For Tragedy Near White House

In the aftermath of a shooting that left two National Guardsmen in critical condition this week, there was a flurry of information leading to reports that an Afghan national was responsible for the violent act just a block from the White House. While the president immediately addressed the pertinent issues, including lax immigration laws that allow dangerous individuals access to US soil, his many haters in the media were looking for ways to make this all his fault. And former MSNBC blowhard Keith Olbermann was naturally among the first to connect those dots, as the Daily Caller reported: The guardsmen were attacked a block away from the White House shortly before 3 p.m. local time and remained in critical condition as of Wednesday evening. The troops are part of the National Guard surge Trump ordered in August to address rising crime in the nation’s capital after a series of high-profile incidents, including the fatal shooting of a congressional intern. Democrats had long opposed Trump’s deployment of Guard units to the capital and other cities, calling it an overreach of presidential authority. In the hours after the shooting, many revived those criticisms, arguing that the president was to blame. “Trump put them in harm’s way, fash,” former ESPN and MSNBC host Keith Olbermann posted on X. It’s a bit like saying that if you ask your spouse to pick up a gallon of milk on the way home, you’d be responsible if there was a crash along the way. But Olbermann was far from the only far-left mouthpiece willing to take the leap in response to Trump and anyone who supported the deployment of the guardsmen: They should not have been here. You sent them to die for a stunt. — Brian Beutler (@brianbeutler) November 26, 2025 We still don’t know anything about the motive but let’s be clear: if not for Trump’s illegal deployment of the national guard for a non-emergency, they’d be fine. — Keith Edwards (@keithedwards) November 26, 2025 BREAKING: Both National Guard members who were shot in Washington, DC, just one block from the White House, have died from their injuries. God bless them and their families. History will wonder what we’re all thinking: why did Trump have to put them in harm’s way for a STUNT? pic.twitter.com/Dx8BCAhaie — CALL TO ACTIVISM (@CalltoActivism) November 26, 2025 Countless conservatives, on the other hand, side with Trump in asserting that the real problem is that violent criminals are allowed into the nation in the first place, per Fox News: Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, said he has been warning for years that efforts to facilitate the immigration of Afghans represented a “grave danger.” “I’ve been warning for years that there was grave danger in the far-too-successful effort to facilitate the immigration of people from Afghanistan,” Lee wrote on X. “I wish more had heeded those warnings, especially after today’s tragedy,” he added, after an Afghan national shot two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday. Here’s a clip of Trump’s remarks on the incident:
