Gavin Adcock Takes Aim At Zach Bryan (Shocker) After He Called Out Artists Who Don’t Write Their Own Songs
To nobody’s surprise at all… Gavin Adcock is entering the chat.
The drama between Zach Bryan and Gavin Adcock continues, with Gavin Adcock taking aim at the “Something In The Orange” singer who recently voiced his opinions on songwriters and artists utilizing AI. If you are not familiar with the drama between these two men, you can read about it HERE, but I’m not getting into all that mess here.
Of course, AI music has been at the front of the music world headlines this past month after Whiskey Riff reported the #1 song on the Billboard Country Digital Song Sales chart was “Walk My Walk” by AI band, Breaking Rust. Many music fans have been outraged by the news, and country music stars like Jason Aldean, Riley Green and Charley Crockett have spoken out against it. All in all, you’d think that everyone and their mother would hate the idea of AI infiltrating the music industry.
Zach Bryan recently weighed in on the matter, taking to Instagram the other morning on November 26, to lay down a statement about AI songwriters, while essentially calling out artists who already don’t write their own songs:
“People who don’t write their own songs, complaining about A.I. writing songs, is like a guy in finance complaining about farmers switching from plow horses to tractors.”
He continued:
“I appreciate true writers, and I do understand the issue with it, but if you’re worried about a generic word machine with no emotions or nuance writing better metaphors and being more relatable than you, it should tell you more about yourself than the state of technology.”
The posts were deleted about an hour after he posted them… shocking, I know…
Naturally, Gavin Adcock used the post as an opportunity to take another shot at Zach Bryan, as he has done quite often in the past. Gavin has sparked beef with Zach, Charley Crockett, and Benjamin Tod as of late, and certainly seems to enjoy stoking the fires of disagreement under this guise of “just sharing my opinions, man.” And I’m all for speaking your mind and healthy debate, especially when it pertains to the state of the country music industry, but Gavin seems to enjoy poking bears for the sake of poking bears.
He said:
“If all your songs sound the same. You either should be open to writing with other people or you’ve been using AI to write your lyrics the whole him.”
I’m going to assume that Adcock meant to say “time” to end that statement… maybe you should reread your words before posting so they pack a punch.

Of course, Adcock’s statement is aimed more at Zach Bryan’s music than at countering his views on AI in songwriting. The shot about Zach Bryan’s songs sounding similar is not an original thought, as many people online have said the same thing for years. And Zach will be the first one to tell you that all of his songs sound the same. But hey, it’s still putting a**es in seats at his shows, a record-setting amount of a**es in the seats.
And then his second jab, accusing Zach Bryan of using AI on his songs, is just dumb in my opinion. Zach Bryan might be a lot of things, but to accuse an artist like Zach, who has proven to be a pretty prolific and talented songwriter by fairly objective standards, of using AI is just nonsensical.
I like Gavin’s music, but his inability to let people express their opinion without inserting his two cents is getting a little old… especially when his two cents doesn’t make any sense. I wasn’t going to even blog this and give it the time of day, but I thought it should be said… let’s stop stirring up drama just for the sake of drama, and let’s get back to focusing on the music.
It appears that many folks feel like Gavin Adcock is living in a glass house and throwing stones with this statement as well, including people who are fans and actually enjoy his music too. Check out some of the replies:
Were you looking in the mirror when you wrote this?

My man, I dig your music and am looking forward to seeing you on tour next year, but you should probably sit this one out brother.
