Dolly Parton Had The PERFECT Response To Reporter Who Asked About Her Chest Measurements In 1986

She’s a national treasure, and she always has been. Dolly Parton has been very open over the years about her signature look, which she has openly admitted many times was modeled after the town tramp in her hometown in the mountains of east Tennessee. Dolly has told plenty of stories about how people wanted her to change her look, from her label executives to family members, but she was always steadfast in who she wanted to be. Of course, early on in her career, Dolly received pushback from the “powers that be,” if you will, telling her that she needed to change her look in order to appeal to a wider audience… clearly they couldn’t have been more wrong. Dolly’s advice for young women, though, is to stand up for yourself and say to hell with them: “It doesn’t matter what anybody else says. If your mama doesn’t like the way you dress, especially if you’re a 30-year-old girl, a woman, if somebody doesn’t like the way you look.…Well, say, ‘To hell with you. This is me. I’m the one who has to wear this. You’re not wearing it.’” Amen to that, Dolly… And she never backed down from it, and obviously, one of her most iconic, um, assets, if you will, is her famous chest… and no, her boobs are not actually insured. But people have always asked her about the, and she’s always been open about it, and especially back in her younger years, men in particular wanted to know the specifics about all of it, and in 1986, 60 Minutes reporter Mike Munro interviewed Dolly Parton, where he got very personal in questions her about her chest and the exact measurements. Of course, this was a very different time, something that would NEVER fly today, but Dolly handled it like a total pro, saying: “The reason I never give my measurements is because they go up and down. I mean, it’s like, I vary 20 pounds every six months. I’m actually not as big as people think, because I’m a tiny little person, and I’m small boned, and I’m just over exaggerated. You’d be amazed to know how tiny they really are.” Alright, I don’t know about all that… Munro jokingly (I’m sure it wasn’t really a joke) replied: “May I ask?” Dolly actually found it hysterical, and she laughed as she responded: “No, you can’t. Up yours, buster.” Handled with so much grace, class and humor (though I’m sure her response wasn’t totally a joke, either)… like the true queen she is. This short clip from the interview encapsulates everything I love so much about her… thank the Lord for Dolly Parton: @honkytonktownFunny time with Dolly♬ som original – Honky Tonk Town The full interview is available below.
