GOP Senator Throws Support Behind The Democrat’s Investigation Into Secretary Of War Pete Hegseth

These GOP senators may face a primary in the future. A bipartisan investigation by the U.S. senate is looking to investigate the alleged allegations that Secretary of War ordered for there to be no survivors in the airstrikes against drugging running boats from Venezuela. The investigation is being led by Republican Senator Roger Wicker and Democrat Senator Jack Reed. Yahoo News reported more on the investigation into Hegseth: Senators from both sides of the political aisle will join forces to investigate allegations that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered there to be no survivors in U.S. airstrikes on alleged drug-running boats. GOP Senator Roger Wicker, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and Democratic Senator Jack Reed announced the decision in a joint statement Saturday. “The Committee is aware of recent news reports and the Department of Defense’s initial response — regarding alleged follow-on strikes on suspected narcotics vessels in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility,” the statement read. “The Committee has directed inquiries to the Department, and we will be conducting vigorous oversight to determine the facts related to these circumstances.” It comes following a report from The Washington Post, which alleged that Hegseth had ordered military personnel to “kill everybody” on board a vessel in the Caribbean, suspected of carrying drugs, on September 2. Senators from both sides of the political aisle will join forces to conduct an investigation into allegations that A first missile strike left two survivors, but a Special Operations commander overseeing the attack ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions to “kill everybody,” according to the Post, which cited officials with direct knowledge of the operation. The two men were then “blown apart in the water,” according to the report. Republican Rep. Mike Turner has also weighed in on the investigation: Rep. Mike Turner on the double strike to comply with Hegseth’s orders: “If that occurred, that would be very serious and I agree that would be an illegal act…This is completely outside of anything that has been discussed with Congress and there is an ongoing investigation.” pic.twitter.com/Yy3HzGC00e — The Bulwark (@BulwarkOnline) November 30, 2025 Former JAG officers claim Hegseth committed war crimes: Former US military lawyers speak out “The Former JAGs Working Group unanimously considers both the giving and the execution of these orders, if true, to constitute war crimes, murder, or both” Statement on Media Reports of Pentagon “No Quarter” Orders in Caribbean Boat Strikes pic.twitter.com/eXo0bs4zyb — Ryan Goodman (@rgoodlaw) November 29, 2025 The Guardian reported Hegseth denied the allegations: The US defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, has declared recent reporting that he may have illegally ordered all people to be killed in a military strike in the Caribbean as “fake news” on Friday evening, adding that the series of strikes of people on boats had been “lawful under both US and international law”. Hegseth lambasted reports about his role in the strike as “fabricated, inflammatory and derogatory reporting to discredit our incredible warriors fighting to protect the homeland”. The remarks came after a Washington Post report this week alleged that Hegseth ordered defense officials to “kill everybody” traveling on a boat that was being surveilled by analysts on 2 September, the first strike of many carried out in recent months by the Trump administration. The White House said – without proof – that the people in the boats in the Caribbean, killed in Pentagon operations, were drug smugglers. Following the Washington Post’s reporting, two senators – Republican Roger Wicker and Democrat Jack Reed – released a statement saying the Senate armed services committee would be investigating the boat strikes. “The Committee is aware of recent news reports – and the Department of Defense’s initial response – regarding alleged follow-on strikes on suspected narcotics vessels in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility,” the senators wrote in a joint statement.
