“Is Anyone Gonna Rebut This Devil?” – John Rich On Why He Went After “Demon Possessed” Diddy With New Song, “The Righteous Hunter”

John Rich is going after Sean “Diddy” Combs… I didn’t have that on my “2025 Bingo Card,” but here we are. Country music artist John Rich isn’t afraid to say what’s on his mind. He’s actually been very outspoken about his politics in recent years, and in a way, it’s helped grow his fanbase up a bit. The one half of Big & Rich and the founder of Redneck Riviera consistently takes his thoughts to social media, and the latest fight that he’s fighting has been against the rapper and producer who is currently behind bars: Sean “Diddy” Combs. Rich talked all about it in his recent interview on The Tucker Carlson Show. The country singer and songwriter explained that he hasn’t been into amusing and entertaining people at bars and venues as much recently. That’s because he’s had somewhat of a revelation, and wants to shine the light on the Lord and call out the evil in the world as much as he can with his platform. The artist knows that his new song, “The Righteous Hunter,” that calls out evil is not going to be a radio hit: “It just came out, and it won’t be on the radio. If a radio station plays this song, I will go there personally and buy them a steak dinner. It would take a lot for them to put this on the air.” That’s because the song has very Biblical-leaning lyrics, and is a complete take down of Sean “Diddy” Combs, A.K.A. Puff Daddy. What caused John Rich to take aim at the rapper and producer that’s currently in prison after being found guilty of two counts of transportation for prostitution? There was one specific moment that Rich remembers being the inspiration: “About a year ago, I saw a clip of Sean Combs, and he was standing on a stage at an awards show. He’s looking into the camera and he says, ‘I own your kids. I own their souls. I determine what they wear. I determine what they listen to.’ He’s looking right into the camera saying this. I’m thinking, ‘Oh is that right, Sean Combs? You own my sons? You own the souls of my sons?'” John Rich went on to say that Sean Combs is “demon possessed,” and that he was using his music like a weapon to control the younger population. In the country music artist’s eyes, if he can do that for evil, why can’t he do the same for good? That’s how the new song came to be, as he explained to Tucker Carlson: “Music is my weapon of choice, and is anyone gonna rebut this devil and what he just said about our kids? Nobody did.” Rich’s song, “The Righteous Hunter,” is about those American parents like Rich himself who would do anything to protect their children from the evils in the world. The track’s opening verse sings: “Evil runs around this town undercover Looking for a soul to take But they better stay away from the righteous hunter Or hell is all they’ll pay.” And that same messaging continues in the chorus, where Rich sings about the things that a parent will do to keep their kids safe from bad people: “‘Cause I can see around the corner And I know you’re comin’ If you had any sense you’d run But you ain’t got a clue what a daddy will do Better give your soul to Jesus while I get my gun You better give your soul to Jesus while I get my gun.” If you want to check it out, you can click on the music video for the song below. It came out just under a week ago, and you’ll likely notice that Shawn Ryan – a former Navy SEAL and popular podcaster – plays a major role in the story. “The Righteous Hunter” by John Rich The post “Is Anyone Gonna Rebut This Devil?” – John Rich On Why He Went After “Demon Possessed” Diddy With New Song, “The Righteous Hunter” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
