Comedian, Leanne Morgan, Tells Theo Von Hilarious Story About Her Daughter Going Out With Morgan Wallen Back In The Day: “He Likes Wild Girls”

It sounds like they were better off friends. Today, comedian Leanne Morgan is the guest on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast, and they’re such a great pair. Of course, they have a lot in common being Southern comedians, and I absolutely love her, so I’m biased a little bit when saying she’s one of my favorites guests he’s had on. Leanne has been at the comedy thing for years now, and she really blown up over the las several years. But like you’ll hear her talk about often, for a long time, she was raising her three kids and doing random corporate events working on her craft. And one of those events was a charity thing many years ago, after country music’s biggest star Morgan Wallen had been kicked off of The Voice. Leanne recalled the time when Morgan was still working in Knoxville, Tennessee, where Leanne still lives, as a landscaper and just getting a start in music. They did some sort of local charity event, and Leanne told Theo she wanted to make Morgan a casserole: “Yes, honey, Morgan and I did a show together when he got kicked off of ‘The Voice.’ That little thing was mowing, had mowing equipment, and we both got asked to do a charity thing. I think they paid us $200, if they paid us anything, I can’t remember. And he sang, and we were in the back, and I promised him a casserole, because I thought he was so sweet and darling. He goes, ‘I’m gonna try to make it in country music.’ And I thought, ‘How is that little thing gonna go?’ Not that I didn’t think he was talented.’ He’s the age of my children, and darling.” Later in the episode, she brought up the fact that Morgan had taken her middle child, Maggie, on several dates years ago, but Maggie realized she probably wasn’t Morgan’s type, as Leanne puts it, he was into “wild girls that like to key cars” and “fight in the yard: “Now he did take my Maggie, my middle child, on a couple of dates. But she said, ‘I think he likes wild girls that like to key cars.’ And see, my children went to a Christian school and were told not to. But she said, she thought he was darling, and she said, this was a long time ago, before he hit big, he liked girls that like to fight in the yard. And that’s okay. There’s pretty girls in Powell. They were all from Powell, Tennessee. And he was a baseball player, and mowed. I get it.” Just hilarious… and I can totally see it, honestly. Theo responded: “And especially if he just mowed the yard. Somebody needs to throw down in it, you know?” Leanne says her family is full of lovers, not fighters, so it just wasn’t in the cards for Maggie and Morgan: “I know, and see, my sister and I, and my kids, we don’t like to fight. We’re not fighters. We’re lovers.” If Morgan would have somehow ended up with Leanne Morgan as a mother-in-law, he would’ve struck gold… But it sounds like it’s for the best that they didn’t work out as a couple, though it does make for a pretty funny story now. Check it out, the whole episode is fantastic in my humble opinion.
