Democrat Congressman Says He Will File Articles Of Impeachment Against Trump Cabinet Member
Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) on Thursday said he will file articles of impeachment against Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
“I do think there have to be consequences for abject war crimes." – Pete Hegseth 2016.

“Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is uniquely unqualified for his role. Every day, it becomes clearer that he is engaging in unlawful, illegal activity,” Thanedar said in a video address.
“That is why, today, I am preparing two articles of impeachment against Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth,” he continued.

The Hill has more:
“This secretary has to go,” Thanedar told Fox News host Josh Breslow. “He’s incompetent. He’s, you know, violated — he has committed war crimes. He must go.”
He added, “And if both parties, if Republicans are willing to look at this for the merit of this case and not just their loyalty to President Trump, this can be done.”
Thanedar pointed to Hegseth’s use of the encrypted messaging app Signal with other administration officials to discuss a pending strike on Houthi targets in Yemen as one reason to oust the Defense chief. A report from the Pentagon’s inspector general, released publicly on Thursday, found that Hegseth put the lives of U.S. troops at risk and violated department policy through the use of the app.
The Atlantic’s editor Jeffrey Goldberg was included in the Signal chat, along with Hegseth, Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The Office of Inspector General argued in its report that if detailed strike plans were intercepted, the lives of U.S. troops would have been endangered.
“Rep. Shri Thanedar holds a lackluster rally introducing articles of impeachment against Secretary of War Pete Hegseth,” Daily Caller congressional reporter Caden Olson commented.

“The Democrats calling for Pete Hegseth’s impeachment will FAIL! I unequivocally stand with our Secretary of War!!’ Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) said.

Axios noted:
Thanedar will unveil his articles of impeachment Thursday morning during a rally at Union Station in Washington, D.C., his office said in a press advisory.
The articles will accuse Hegseth of “Murder and Conspiracy to Murder and Reckless and Unlawful Mishandling of Classified Information,” the advisory said.
He will be joined at the rally by FLARE, a group pushing for Trump to be impeached.
Jeffries, asked at a Monday press conference about the possibility of impeaching Hegseth, shooed away the idea.
“Republicans will never allow articles of impeachment to be brought to the floor of the House of Representatives, and we know that’s the case,” he said.
