President Trump Wins Inaugural Peace Award

President Trump was awarded the first-ever FIFA Peace Prize on Friday at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. FIFA President Gianni Infantino gave Trump the award during the World Cup final draw. “This is truly one of the great honors of my life,” Trump said. “Beyond awards, Gianni and I were discussing this, we’ve saved millions and millions of lives,” he added. He and FIFA president Gianni Infantino are close allies, and Infantino had made clear that he thought Trump should have won the Nobel for his efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza. The U.S. president was awarded the prize that Infantino said was a “beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.” Trump promptly placed the medal around his neck. The certificate that Infantino handed Trump recognizes the U.S. president for his actions to “promote peace and unity around the world.” “This is what we want from a leader — a leader that cares about the people,” Infantino said about Trump, who was also presented with a gold trophy with his name on it that depicts hands holding up the world. The FIFA leader said to Trump “this is your prize, this is your peace prize.” Trump thanked his family, including his wife, first lady Melania Trump, and praised the leaders of the other two host nations — Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum — in his brief remarks, saying the coordination with the countries has been “outstanding.” Fox News provided additional footage: BREAKING: President Trump is awarded the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize. pic.twitter.com/8IzSw7H2Fq — Fox News (@FoxNews) December 5, 2025 Fox News shared further: In March, Trump signed an executive order establishing the task force for the soccer tournament, which will be hosted by the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Trump serves as the chair of the task force, while Vice President JD Vance serves as the vice chair. As the executive director, Rudy Giuliani’s son was tasked with managing and overseeing daily operations. The United States is home to 11 of the 16 host cities. The president previously threatened to move games out of cities if they were deemed unsafe, but after arriving at the Kennedy Center on Friday, he reaffirmed his confidence in the security of those cities and vowed federal support if needed. The championship match will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The international tournament, spanning North America, will begin in June 2026 and is the first World Cup in more than two decades to take place in multiple countries.
