Country Music Fans Are Obsessed With Ella Langley’s Acoustic Cover Of George Strait’s “Fool Hearted Memory”

Need an official cover ASAP. In a year filled with massive breakouts from the likes of Zach Top, Treaty Oak Revival, The Red Clay Strays, Megan Moroney and more, it’s still hard to top Ella Langley’s huge 2025. In addition to continuing her momentum built off the success of “you look like you love me” with Riley Green, the Alabama native would go on to win not one but three separate CMA Awards last month for Single, Song and Music Video of the Year, all for the aforementioned hit song. Not to be outdone, last week, she finally scored her first-ever #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for her red-hot single co-written with Miranda Lambert, “Choosin’ Texas,” which rose from #4 to #1 on the chart. As the year slowly winds down to a close, many artists are starting to get into the holiday spirit, either taking time off the road to recharge for 2026 or simply spending time with friends and family. In Langley’s case, however, she’s still keeping fans entertained with a brand-new acoustic cover of none other than the King himself, George Strait’s, 1982 single, “Fool Hearted Memory.” View this post on Instagram I doubt many country fans aren’t familiar with “Fool Hearted Memory,” but in case you need a bit of a refresher on the significance of the song, it was first released as the first single on Strait’s iconic sophomore record, Strait from the Heart in May of 1982. What makes the song so significant, however, is the fact that it became the “Troubadour” singer’s first-ever chart-topper, which ultimately set him on the path and paved his way for his eventual record-setting 60 #1 singles throughout his career. It’s safe to say that Langley is no stranger to a cover song or two. In addition to frequently performing the likes of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” Gretchen Wilson’s “Here For The Party” and more, she went viral earlier in the year with her appearance on Apple Music’s Nashville Sessions: Toby Keith Covered, where she performed Keith’s severely underrated 1994 single, “Wish I Didn’t Know Now.” And similar to her cover of Keith, which left fans begging for more, last night’s cover of “Fool Hearted Memory” is currently receiving similar treatment. Despite being posted just 14 hours ago as of writing, Langley’s Instagram video of the song has already garnered over two million views, a staggering 161,000 likes, 1,600 comments and 4,400 shares. Unsurprisingly, the comments are simply filled with fans praising her killer vocals on the track, loving the fact that she’s covering the King and, of course, begging for a full-length cover. “you playing George Strait is healing” “Playing King George with that voice is such a flex… thank God I get to say I was alive for both.” “Can you just do a while King George album. The Pure Country soundtrack?” “Ultimate queen” “The queen sings the king“ “Need a cover released” “Need this on Spotify” “Immediately yes” “Inject this cover into my veins” “this healed me” “This might be God’s gift to earth” While it might be a bit of a stretch for Langley to record an official cover with Strait itself, I don’t think anyone would mind a full-length studio cover of the classic song sometime soon. It should go without saying that her sultry vocals shine through on the track seemingly effortlessly. If you add the iconic fiddle-work present on Strait’s original, it would be nothing short of a show-stopper release from Langley.
