Reba McEntire’s Daughter-in-Law Shares Inspiring Message of Hope Following Devastating Loss
Pregnancy loss is a subject that many women don’t want to talk about. The excitement they feel about bringing a new baby into the world and all their dreams come crashing down with insurmountable grief. Some brave souls choose to share their journeys to offer support to other moms and let them know they are not alone. Marissa Blackstock, the wife of Shelby Blackstock and the daughter-in-law of Reba McEntire, recently shared a heart-wrenching social media post about a family loss.
“I’ve carried more loss this year than I ever imagined I could. First my brother-in-law, then my dad… and now our little boy. Grief has a way of reshaping your world, and I’ve learned that to survive it, you have to search for even the faintest glimmer of meaning— the small silver thread that helps your heart keep going,” Marissa explained.

The Baby Marked a New Beginning for the Blackstock Family
Marissa Blackstock shared that she learned about her baby the day after Thanksgiving. And while she understands the loss occurred very early, she felt her baby’s presence. And even though he wasn’t with her very long, that unborn baby came with big dreams.
“I know— it’s so early. But I wanted to acknowledge this for the people who have been excited for us. The ones who’ve followed our journey, our family, our heartbreaks and our hopes. Life happens quietly sometimes, and it’s such a shame we don’t talk about it more. How can we support one another if we don’t know?” She commented.
Marissa made a point to give other parents hope.
“And even in the weight of this season, I’m grateful for the light he brought with him; however brief, however delicate,” she wrote. “If you’re walking through your own losses, I hope you find your small threads of light too.
Loved ones shared sweet words for the Blackstock family.
“So sorry for your loss. You share your feelings so beautifully. You certainly are a strong person,” a note reads.
