Lucie Arnaz Developing New Series “Lucy and Desi: The Greatest Story Never Told”

The new show, with the working title Lucy and Desi: The Greatest Story Never Told, comes together with the 75th anniversary of I Love Lucy right around the corner. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz gave us one of the most iconic television shows of all time. Even nearly 75 years after the show’s premiere, I Love Lucy still makes audiences laugh. Lucy and Ricky Ricardo were the couple everyone wanted to be like. They made each other scream, laugh, and cry. In the end, their love for each other always shone through. In real life, the story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz didn’t end as happily as on TV. According to Variety, the couple’s daughter, Lucie Arnaz, plans to tell the real story in a new series. It’s not just all about ‘I Love Lucy.’” The new show, with the working title Lucy and Desi: The Greatest Story Never Told, comes together with the 75th anniversary of I Love Lucy right around the corner. Lucie Arnaz explained that this project will tell the story behind the story everyone thinks they know. “There’s been now two TV movies and a feature film and my documentary, but none of those other films ever looked at, ‘OK, that happened and that happened, but why? Why did he do that? Why did she respond that way?’ I wanted to correct that. If nothing else, I wanted to be able to look at them as people and say, ‘aren’t they interesting? Imagine, even with all that sorrow and all that loss, he was able to do this. And then he had to drink. Well, why did he have hookers? Why did that happen?’ And so if we can show the early and go all the way to the end, in some way, we might be able to help people understand them even more.” This story’s featured image is by  CBS/Getty Images.
