Erika Kirk Suffers One Heck Of A “Slip of the Tongue” Live On Stage At AmFest
Look folks, I’m not here to pick on Erika or nitpick every little detail.
In fact, I’m trying to ignore as many as I can.
I get it…she’s probably exhausted and worn out and we all make mistakes.
But this one is really something.
This is one of those things where if you write it into a movie script it would probably get rejected for being way too obvious.
And yet, as Elon Musk says “fate loves irony” and the most interesting outcome is usually the most likely.
That’s definitely what we got today.
GRIFT.
GIFT.
GRIT.
Watch here:
TRANSCRIPT:
Despite the devastating loss of Charlie Kirk, my incredible husband at UVU, Caleb has persisted with the same grift.
Excuse me, gift.
GRIT!
It has been a long day. Trust me, you’re not a grifter, honey.
It’s all good.
YIKES!
Definitely one heck of a slip of the tongue.

I know, she’s just tired and slipped up and most of us would do the same trying to stand up there on that stage.
I get it.
I also know the Bible says in Matthew 12:34 — “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
So that one was bad, but there’s actually another Erika clip the Internet is obsessing over even more than this today…
At first I didn’t think there was anything to see here, but the more I’ve thought about it it does seem very odd and out of place.

“ONCE he was assassinated”
– what an odd thing for Erika Kirk to say. pic.twitter.com/6ReCjAfJBF

So the thing everyone is latching onto is the word “once” is really a forward-looking, expectant word:

Allow me to explain…
If we’re on a road trip and I say “once we arrive in California, we’ll go right to the beach” — that implies we all are expecting at some point in the near future to arrive in California and then we know we’ll go to the beach.
Another: “once the timer goes off, I’ll take the cookies out of the oven.” An expected future event.
Now this: “Once Charlie was assassinated, it was proven all the more.”
Hmmm.
Again, probably just a bad choice of words but it does raise some eyebrows. And it’s not just me:
ICYMI — Erika Kirk says her AMFEST speech was ‘wiped’ because her ‘iPad won’t even turn on’ which caused this Freudian Slip when she says:
‘Proved even more ONCE he was assassinated’ suggesting preemptive knowledge pic.twitter.com/0qVSodv1qe

The whole debate is even trending right now on X:
Definitely a “non-standard” choice of words….but maybe just normal?

The Truman Show FEATURING Erika Kirk
I know some of you will say Erika Kirk is completely off limits and how dare I ever question anything about her!
Because...everyone grieves differently.
And that's true, some people grieve by constantly seeking fame and the spotlight, spending half their time going on Fox News and the other half walking out on stage in a sparkly gold outfit and fireworks:

And I'm not going to spend my time in this article writing about all my thoughts or all the things that seem "off" and "fake" to me about Erika Kirk.
Because a picture is often worth a thousand words and even better than a picture is often a meme and even better than a meme is often satire or parody.
And that's what I want to show you now.
I don't know who made this but it's absolutely genius. So well done.
In just 28 seconds, this satire video conveys more truth than a thousand words could.
It's the scene from The Truman Show where Truman finally figures it out. He finally figures out his whole life is fake and staged. He finally figures out his "wife" is just playing a role, and she's actually much more interested in doing product placements and ads to keep the show going.
It's an iconic scene from cinema history and one of my favorite movies, but someone has replaced/merged the faces of the original actors with those of Erika Kirk and Charlie Kirk and to me this perfectly encapsulates everything that feels "off" and "fake" to me about Erika Kirk.
See what you think:

Well, what do you think?
Brilliantly done?
Or....STOP PICKING ON ERIKA, HOW DARE YOU! [to be read in a Greta Thunberg voice]
And before I go, since we're talking about The Truman Show, let's unpack on additional detail about the movie.
This totally flips the entire movie on its head, but there is a theory out there that says Truman knows he's in a movie the entire time and it's not just at the end that he finally figures it out.
He's figured it out long ago, and most of the movie is just him testing the other people to see if anyone else knows and where the edges and boundaries of this fake world actually are.
Fascinating!
