CBS News reported: The incident unfolded at about 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time outside the headquarters of the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office in Wallace, Idaho, Shoshone County Sheriff William Eddy said in a Friday night news conference. Eddy said the suspect shot two women who were sitting in a pickup truck outside the building. “Two ladies got shot, they were sitting in a pickup,” Eddy said. “The guy shot through the windshield, and it struck a lady in the leg in the front seat, and a lady in the leg in the backseat.” At some point, the suspect “entered the sheriff’s office lobby and began firing,” Eddy said. One officer was struck in the ear by the gunfire, but it was unclear if he was inside the building at the time. All three victims sustained minor injuries, the sheriff disclosed. “He just walked in,” Eddy told reporters. “…The lobby is always open so people can walk in and fill out reports, or make contact with dispatch, or get ahold of us.” At this time, the suspect’s identity has not been confirmed. But, the sheriff said he was armed with multiple weapons. This shooting marks the latest tragic act of violence to happen during the last month. Local news outlet KREM2 has more: “This has…been a rough month,” said Sheriff Eddy at the press conference. “It seems like one tragedy after another.” Law enforcement from several agencies responded to reports of the shooting around 2:40 p.m. on Friday. KCSO says the public is advised to avoid the area as the investigation remains active. Reports of the shooting were initially confirmed by the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office in Montana, which said it was sending officers to assist with the incident. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office confirmed with KREM 2 News that it has sent SWAT units to the scene. “This is a fairly significant event,” said Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris at the press conference. “When you have a person that goes into a lobby of a sheriff’s office and starts a shoot-up, that’s a significant event.” Idaho State Police will handle the investigation into the incident. We’ll keep you updated on any further developments. Please pray for all of the victims.
