Riley Green Delivers Rousing Rendition Of “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue” On New Year’s Eve, Ahead Of America’s 250th Birthday

The perfect way to ring in 2026, which also just so happens to be the year the United States of America celebrates 250 years of freedom. Last night, Riley Green performed on CBS Network’s New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash, where he delivered a rousing rendition of Toby Keith’s classic, “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.” The song was written by Keith in late 2001, and was inspired by his father’s death in March of 2001, as well as the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States later that year. It was released in May of 2002 as the lead single from his Unleashed album, and eventually peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs in July of 2002, fittingly. It also reached #25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming his biggest solo hit on that chart at the time. Of course, it’s now one of his signature songs and synonymous with this great holiday, and it has been certified 4× Platinum by the RIAA. It’s his highest certified single in the United States, with over 70 million views on streaming platforms. Riley has played Keith’s other song “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” at his concerts for years now, so another Toby Keith song was certainly fitting for this occasion, though considering America is about to turn 250, I think this was the perfect choice. Maybe Riley will add it to his set list considering this special year, but I love to hear him cover any Toby Keith song and this one is really fun: @cbs Can’t think of a better way to spend my NYE than with @Riley Green #CBSNashvilleNYE #RileyGreen ♬ original sound – CBS Riley will hit the road on his 2026 Cowboy As It Gets tour in April.
