HORRIFIC: 72-Year-Old Man Shoved Into MOVING TRAIN in 2026’s First NYC Subway Attack

Unfortunately, not everything magically changes with the dropping of the ball at the stroke of midnight in NYC. And this new year brought some of last year’s worst news with it. The first random act of extreme NYC subway violence is already in the books for 2026, and it happened only a few hours into the year change. Police say the victim was simply waiting patiently for the train in a subway station outside Yankee Stadium. And that’s when the elderly man was hit out of nowhere and shoved against an oncoming train! And in an odd twist, I want you to notice this headline shared on X by the New York Post which highlights the victim’s specific age: Maniac shoves 72-year-old man into moving NYC train — in 2026’s first burst of random subway violence https://t.co/DiJRuCjLF8 pic.twitter.com/ZzCV8P6d5u — New York Post (@nypost) January 1, 2026 That shockingly echoed an eerily similar attack only a few days before the new year… which happened in the same area LAST YEAR! Is attacking a 72-year-old man on the subway an end-of-year theme for NYC criminals or something? Is this really just coincidence? Check out the wildly similar story from this time last year!: NEW: A 72-year-old man was pushed onto subway tracks in New York City and now needs spinal surgery. The suspect has not been caught. But according to Governor Kathy Hochul…Subways are safer than ever… pic.twitter.com/TsHFYWQs3O — Officer Lew (@officer_Lew) December 23, 2024 Here’s the full screen version of that news clip from WPIX 11 out of NYC showing last year’s attack on ANOTHER 72-YEAR-OLD MAN!: NEW: A 72-year-old man was pushed onto subway tracks in New York City and now needs spinal surgery. The suspect has not been caught. But according to Governor Kathy Hochul…Subways are safer than ever… pic.twitter.com/TsHFYWQs3O — Officer Lew (@officer_Lew) December 23, 2024 I don’t know if there’s a criminal “trend” at play here… But I know I wouldn’t be caught standing around a NYC subway if I’m 72 around Christmas or New Years! The details from today’s attack were initially scant – though I can confirm the suspect in THIS case has been caught. As it turns out, it didn’t take too many words to communicate the VIOLENCE of this morning’s attack — as reported by the same local NYC media outlet that covered last year’s similar attack, WPIX 11 News: A 72-year-old man was shoved into a moving train during an unprovoked attack in a Bronx subway station on New Year’s Day, authorities said. The straphanger was shoved into the No. 4 train as it was entering the station before bouncing off the train and landing back on the platform, police said. (Emphasis added.) As of yet, the full identity of this morning’s victim has not been released. But more details on the suspected attacker have now been reported by the New York Post: The victim was waiting for a Manhattan-bound No. 4 train at the Bronx’s 161-Yankee Stadium station around 3:30 a.m. when wack job Anton Aleshin, 29, allegedly pushed him, sending his head flying into the train, according to cops. Medics rushed the elderly man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was listed in stable condition. Police nabbed Aleshin at the scene, the NYPD said. He was charged with attempted murder, assault and reckless endangerment, police said. Police sources said he may have been drunk at the time. Aleshin, of Brooklyn, was awaiting arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court Thursday night. The terrifying attack came days after a string of violence in the city’s underground. (Emphasis added.) All this, while New York Governor Hochul continues to say — as she was saying a year ago — that violent crime on the NYC subway systems is way down. I’m not sure that jives with the field reporting that I dug up from an X account I follow which specifically tracks crime in NYC. Check out his summary of the violent crime taking place minute-by-minute in NYC this morning. And this is only during an 8-hour time frame starting at midnight last night!: NYC Rings in 2026 With Violent Overnight Spree: Shootings, Stabbings, Slashings, and Subway Attacks : Exclusive New Year’s celebrations barely ended before New York City experienced a wave of violence overnight. In less than eight hours, multiple people were shot, stabbed,… pic.twitter.com/yBo3DYLKsK — Viral News NYC (@ViralNewsNYC) January 1, 2026 Here’s the full text of his rundown on what REALLY went down in the first 8 hours of 2026 in the Democrat-led city of New York: NYC Rings in 2026 With Violent Overnight Spree: Shootings, Stabbings, Slashings, and Subway Attacks : Exclusive New Year’s celebrations barely ended before New York City experienced a wave of violence overnight. In less than eight hours, multiple people were shot, stabbed, slashed, and even pushed onto subway tracks. For many, the first hours of 2026 were far from peaceful. The 23rd Precinct closed out 2025 with the final shooting of the year, but just minutes into 2026, the violence continued. Attacks spread across several precincts in a short span of time, leaving victims scattered throughout the city. The incidents ranged from shootings to slashings to stabbings, and even included a subway attack. Men and women across multiple neighborhoods were targeted in a chaotic stretch of crime. The job of a crime reporter in New York City is becoming increasingly difficult, requiring hours of digging, verifying sources, and piecing together scattered reports to present the full picture. Here’s a breakdown of what happened last night: 12:05 a.m. – 75th Pct – Male shot 12:59 a.m. – 7th Pct – Female slashed 1:31 a.m. – 75th Pct – Male slashed 1:46 a.m. – 47th Pct – Male shot 1:58 a.m. – 46th Pct – Female stabbed 2:42 a.m. – 75th Pct – Female shot 2:52 a.m. – 25th Pct – Male slashed 3:30 a.m. – 44th Pct – Male pushed onto subway tracks 3:43 a.m. – 46th Pct – Male slashed 3:47 a.m. – MTS – Male slashed 5:03 a.m. – 75th Pct – Male slashed 5:20 a.m. – 46th Pct – Male slashed 5:24 a.m. – 40th Pct – Male slashed 6:50 a.m. – 10th Pct – Male stabbed 6:54 a.m. – 46th Pct – Male shot, DOA — first homicide of 2026 7:57 a.m. – 44th Pct – Two males shot 7:57 a.m. – 49th Pct – Male shot This concentrated stretch of violence left multiple victims across the city and marked a troubling start to 2026. While celebrations may have just ended, the reality of crime in New York City was clear—and it unfolded quickly and violently. Meanwhile, Letitia James officially swore in NYC’s first socialist-Muslim Mayor FITTINGLY in the bowels of the city as 2026 arrived: I’m not sure if that was meant to be as ironic as I took it.  Unfortunate foreshadowing, maybe? But all I see are more promises of more of the same from Mamdani. If things continue down this path for NYC, 72-year-olds are probably not the only portion of the population that should steer clear of subway trains. In fact… it might be a good time to make an exit from New York, for those who can see where this is headed. And it only takes one glance at the first 8 hours of 2026… to get a clear view of that violent path forward, unless something changes. In the spirit of a new year, I don’t want to leave you on such a sour note — though the facts are the facts. Here’s an example of the stories I would RATHER cover, if only bad political leadership wasn’t drowning us in a sea of crime with too little punishment: Wow. Watch Marine Corps Sgt. Derrick McMillian jump into action and save an elderly man who collapsed onto the subway tracks. CFTs paid off — picked him up like it was nothing. HERO. pic.twitter.com/Zj09PbwD71 — ?????????? ℂ?????? ℙ (@TheLtColUSMC) December 12, 2025 Here’s the full screen video shared by Task & Purpose of a far more encouraging story from the subways of NYC: Wow. Watch Marine Corps Sgt. Derrick McMillian jump into action and save an elderly man who collapsed onto the subway tracks. CFTs paid off — picked him up like it was nothing. HERO. pic.twitter.com/Zj09PbwD71 — ?????????? ℂ?????? ℙ (@TheLtColUSMC) December 12, 2025 The reality is… the problems need to be reported. The violence NEEDS to be reported. And it’s going to get the lion’s share of the bandwidth, as it should. But I love throwing in the OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN as much as possible — if for no other reason than to remind myself and you… All is not lost. There are still people in the world who are far more inclined to HELP our fellow man than hurt him. God help us each to be more like THOSE kinds of folks in this new year! At the time of this report, there is still no further information about the elderly victim from this morning’s attack, other than he was last reported to be in “stable condition”. I’ll be sure to update this story the moment any further information is released about his condition.
