President Trump Endorses Navy Seal To Unseat Rep. Thomas Massie

President Trump is looking to boot Represnative Thomas Massie of Kentucky out of Congress. On Monday night, Trump in a lengthy post on Truth Social announced he has endrosed a retired Navy Seal for Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District. Trump stated former Navy Seal Ed Gallrein has his total endorsement and will not let Kentucky down like Rep. Massie. The Hill reported more on Trump’s endorsment: President Trump touted retired Navy SEAL officer Ed Gallrein, who’s challenging Trump critic Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) in the GOP primary, in a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday, calling his endorsee “A WINNER WHO WILL NOT LET KENTUCKY DOWN!” “A Brave Combat Veteran, Ed knows the Wisdom and Courage required to Defend our Country, Support our Military/Veterans, and Ensure PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH,” Trump wrote, lauding the retired Navy SEAL as a candidate who “happens to be central casting.” Trump also noted Gallrein’s recent support for the Trump administration’s military intervention in Venezuela, calling Gallrein a “big fan” of the operation. The president, whose post included a photo of the two of them in the Oval Office, urged the party to rally around Gallrein, saying he had heard several others might be exploring a potential bid for Massie’s seat. Trump also lashed out at the Kentucky congressman, describing him as “Third Rate Congressman Thomas Massie, a Weak and Pathetic RINO.” Massie responded to Trump’s post by using it as a call to donate to this campaign. “It happened again today! Why do I get attacked weekly?” Massie wrote on X, including a fundraising link in his post. “Because I’m the only Republican who refuses to rubber stamp foreign aid, endless deficits, and unnecessary wars. I’m also exposing sex traffickers.” Massie is fighting for his political life in the May 19 GOP primary for Kentucky’s comfortably Republican 4th Congressional District. Two other Republicans — former nurse Nicole Lee Ethington and physician Robert Wells — are also vying for the GOP nod. Massie has bucked Trump and the GOP on a number of issues, including helming efforts to gather signatures for a discharge petition that required the Justice Department to release documents related to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Thomas Massie’s Trump-endorsed GOP primary opponent is off to a hot fundraising start. Ed Gallrein, a Shelby County veteran of the Navy SEAL special operations force, raised $1.2 million in the final quarter of 2025, according to a release from Gallrein’s team Friday. He launched his campaign in mid-October. President Donald Trump endorsed Gallrein near the end of a contentious year between himself and Massie.
