Congress floats a Greenland annexation bill—seriously

It feels like we’re being punked but now there is a bill on the floor to make Greenland the 51st American state. Congressman Fine (FL-06) introduced the Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act. It gives President Trump authorization to “take whatever steps necessary to annex or acquire Greenland as a territory of the United States.” Whatever steps necessary? Including force? The White House provoked this idea with this post on Monday. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen doesn’t seem to find this funny. She said that Denmark is facing “a decisive moment” over its ownership of Greenland and that the country is ready to defend its “values.” That’s not exactly tough talk now, is it? It’s less “you’ll never take Greenland” and more “we’re very disappointed, and we’ve scheduled a meeting.” The post Congress floats a Greenland annexation bill—seriously appeared first on Redacted.
