Actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested on Monday for an alleged physical assault of a rideshare driver in Los Angeles. Sutherland, 59, was arrested at Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood after police officers responded to a call reporting an assault shortly after midnight. He was released later that day on $50,000 bond. “The investigation determined that the suspect, later identified as Kiefer Sutherland, entered a rideshare vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats toward the victim,” Los Angeles Police Officer Kevin Terzes said, according to NBC News. Sutherland was booked into jail a little after 4 a.m. on an unspecified felony charge, according to Los Angeles County jail records. He was assigned $50,000 bail and bonded out about seven hours later, the records show. According to the Associated Press, the alleged assault isn’t the first time the award-winning actor has been in hot water. Sutherland was jailed in 2007 after “pleading no contest to a drunken driving charge,” the outlet noted. He also has a 2004 conviction for drunken driving.
