Larry Fleet is back with a new single, “American Made,” the first release from his upcoming album Another Year Older – and he’s enlisted a NASCAR legend and his rising star son to help out with the music video. Over the past couple years, there aren’t many artists who have consistently put out as much great music as Fleet. Since his breakout moment with his 2020 single “Where I Find God,” Fleet has remained a steady standard-bearer for traditional country music, even if his releases have inexplicably flown under the radar more than they should. This might be his next big hit though, because not only does the music video feature some serious star power, it’s also a perfectly timed single to coincide with America’s yearlong 250th birthday celebration. “American Made,” which was co-written by Fleet along with Mark Holman and Scooter Carusoe, showcases Fleet’s always-thoughtful songwriting as he reflects on the simple yet invaluable wisdom gained from the older generation: “A handshake’s as good as ink You find the one, you buy a ring You don’t have to sing to sing in the choir It ain’t a problem if money can fix it Shut your mouth and do some listening Cause there’s only so many good years on your tires Looks will fade, children play, Jesus saves And always buy American made” Speaking on the new single, Fleet said it only felt right to release the single as America celebrates her 250th birthday – although the song has a much deeper message than that: “It feels fitting to release American Made on the 250th anniversary of America, but this song is so much more than that to me. It’s about the morals, values and lessons passed down from one generation to the next… guiding them to live a life worth livin’ and I hope people across the world connect with the song in that way.”  The conversation in the song takes place while a young boy is working on a car with his dad, so instead of actors for the music video Fleet recruited a young boy who ACTUALLY grew up working on cars with his pops – who just happens to be a NASCAR legend. The song marks the first single from Fleet’s upcoming album, Another Year Older, which drops February 13. And as always, I can’t wait to hear what he’s got in store.
