WATCH: UFC Fighter Collapses During Weigh-In
UFC bantamweight Cameron Smotherman suddenly collapsed after weighing in for his upcoming fight in a startling scene.
Smotherman (12-6) was due to face Ricky Turcios at UFC 324 this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He successfully weighed in at 135.5 pounds, but then fell to the floor after stepping away from the scale.
The fight was canceled after his collapse.
“Smotherman was tended to by medical staff after the collapse, but needed to be carried off,” Collin Rugg wrote.

ESPN has more:
Weight cutting is a standard practice in the UFC and MMA in general. It is common for athletes to cut more than 10% of body weight in the days leading up to a weigh-in before rehydrating ahead of the competition.
The UFC has not announced any update on Smotherman. He is 1-2 in three appearances in the UFC.
Former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo missed weight by 2.5 pounds for a high-profile matchup against Umar Nurmagomedov on Saturday’s card. Flyweight Alex Perez also missed by 2.5 pounds for a 125-pound contest against Charles Johnson. Figueiredo and Perez were both fined 25% of their purse, but the bouts will continue as scheduled.

Yahoo Sports noted:
Smotherman’s medical status is currently unclear.
Smotherman (12-6) was coming into the weekend having lost back-to-back UFC bouts against Serhiy Sidey and Ricky Simón in 2025. He won his Octagon debut in October 2024, earning a unanimous decision against Jake Hadley.
With Smotherman vs. Turcios cancelled, UFC 324 will now proceed forward as a 12-fight card. The event, which takes place Saturday at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, marks the beginning of UFC’s new $7.7 billion broadcast relationship with Paramount.
