The name of the armed man who was killed by Border Patrol in Minneapolis this morning has just been revealed as Alex Pretti. He was a 37-year-old ICU nurse and resident of Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported: Pretti, 37, has an address listed in south Minneapolis. At a news conference, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said the man who was shot was a 37-year-old white man whose record only showed some parking tickets. Law enforcement sources said Saturday their records show Pretti had no serious criminal history. O’Hara said the man was a “lawful gun owner” with a permit. Records show that Pretti attended the University of Minnesota. His LinkedIn page notes that he was a “junior scientist” at the University of Minnesota Medical School starting in 2012. Also, state records show Pretti was issued in 2021 a license to be a registered nurse, and it remains active through March 2026. Alex Pretti’s family confirmed that he was the man killed. It appears that he was indoctrinated by the left’s violent rhetoric. His family says that he started protesting in Minneapolis after the death of Renee Good — the liberal woman who tried to run over ICE agents with her car. They also say they warned him to “be careful” when protesting. AP shared the family’s statement: Family members say the man killed by a federal officer in Minneapolis on Saturday was an intensive care nurse at the Veterans Administration who cared deeply about people and was upset by President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown in his city. Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, was an avid outdoorsman who loved getting in adventures with Joule, his beloved Catahoula Leopard dog who also recently died. He had participated in protests following the killing of Renee Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Law Enforcement officer earlier this month. “He cared about people deeply and he was very upset with what was happening in Minneapolis and throughout the United States with ICE, as millions of other people are upset,” said Michael Pretti, Alex’s father. “He felt that doing the protesting was a way to express that, you know, his care for others.” Pretti was a U.S. citizen, born in Illinois. Like Good, court records showed he had no criminal record and his family said he had never had any interactions with law enforcement beyond a couple of traffic tickets. In a recent conversation with their son, his parents, who live in Wisconsin, told him to be careful when protesting. If he hadn’t listened to Democrat leaders — like Tim Walz — calling for people to fight ICE and hadn’t tried to pull a gun on federal agents, he would still be alive.
