Protesters In Minneapolis Create “No ICE Zone” With Makeshift Walls

The scenes in Minneapolis are getting quite chaotic. A large group of anti-ICE protesters has taken over the street where a Border Patrol agent shot and killed a 37-year-old man after the man violently resisted arrest and was found to be with a firearm. Take a look at the “Minneapolis Autonomous Zone” below: NO ICE ZONE Protestors have declared Minneapolis Autonomous Zone 2.0 at the site of today’s shooting. The zone has 2 layers of makeshift walls in both directions. It also appears to be protected by MPD and Tim Walz’s National Guard. pic.twitter.com/rv0wCVMulG — Cam Higby (@camhigby) January 25, 2026 Another angle of the zone: This is giving 2020 CHAZ vibes from Portland Leftist protesters are rapidly carving out an “autonomous zone” in Minneapolis blocks near today’s Border Patrol shooting site, barricades up, no end in sight Minneapolis PD standing by, doing nothing to intervene https://t.co/wxqqfLAMfr pic.twitter.com/yMlcNWL2U3 — Culture War Report (@CultureWar2020) January 25, 2026 Fox News reported protesters previously made barricades at the scene where an ICE officer shot Renee Good after she hit him with her car: The Minneapolis Police Department was absent from the block where Wednesday’s ICE shooting unfolded, allowing agitators to seize control of the street and erect makeshift barricades that kept others out of the area. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the shooting happened during an ICE enforcement operation in south Minneapolis on Wednesday. DHS said agents were trying to make arrests when Renee Good allegedly used her vehicle as a weapon, which the agency said prompted a federal agent to fire shots in self-defense. Following the shooting, agitators took control of the street where the shooting took place and used makeshift barricades with chairs, trash cans, wood shipping pallets, bicycles and more. Fox News Digital went to the area surrounding the makeshift barricades and observed agitators directing traffic. No police officers were observed nearby. Here’s Vice President JD Vance’s thoughts on the chaos in Minneapolis: This level of engineered chaos is unique to Minneapolis. It is the direct consequence of far left agitators, working with local authorities. — JD Vance (@JDVance) January 25, 2026 During the George Floyd riots in 2020, Antifa previously established a similar zone called Chaz in Seattle. Remember this: History repeats: lawless zones lead to chaos and bloodshed. Peaceful protests don’t need barricades or armed occupations. — Manish Sinwal (@Manishsinwal001) January 9, 2026
