Warships First, Details Later: Trump’s Iran “Deal” Makes No Sense
President Trump says that he has sent a “big armada” of warships to waters near Iran, including the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and accompanying destroyers. He says that it is “bigger than Venezuela.”
Why? Because the President is once again seeking “a deal.” What deal? Over what? He hasn’t said.
The U.S. military claims that “Iran’s leaders have also left open the possibility that they will try again to obtain a nuclear weapon.” Even though Iran has never been proven to have nuclear weapons. And despite claims last year that the U.S. had already destroyed a program that was never proven to exist.
If you’re following this logic, congratulations: you speak fluent war propaganda!
In short, you know why the U.S. continues to threaten Iran. Israel wants a war with Iran. According to Axios, “CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper visited Israel on Saturday to coordinate military plans and potential joint defensive efforts to counter an Iranian attack against Israel.”
In addition to warships, the U.S. has reportedly sent “more F-15 and F-35 fighter jets, more refueling tankers, and additional air defense systems to the region.”
Still, President Trump is signaling that he may not use them.
“They want to make a deal. I know so,” President Trump said on Monday. “They called on numerous occasions. They want to talk.”
