“Jesus Is For Everybody”: Jelly Roll Praises The Lord In Powerful 2026 Grammys Acceptance Speech
Jelly Roll gave his Grammy Award acceptance speech as only he can. Prior to this year, the artist whose actual name is Jason Bradley DeFord had racked up 4 Grammy nominations and had gone home empty handed every single time. This time around, he was nominated for three more Grammys, and swept all three.
In the non-televised portion of the show, he won Best Country Duo/Group Performance for the “Amen,” his duet with Shaboozey, and another duet, Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Hard Fought Hallelujah” with Brandon Lake. And then he won the inaugural “Best Contemporary Country Album.” Jelly Roll’s Beautifully Broken project was enough to beat out his fellow nominees:
-Eric Church: Evangeline vs. the Machine
-Kelsea Ballerini: Patterns
-Miranda Lambert: Postcards From Texas
-Tyler Childers: Snipe Hunter
When presenters Jeff Goldblum and Lainey Wilson announced Jelly Roll as the winner, the rapper-turned-country-artist could barely believe it. He was in such shock that he accidentally hugged Reba before his own wife, Bunnie XO (who could blame him though?). And he was already in tears before he got up to the stage to accept his first Grammy.
The country music star has a knack for delivering energetic, bring-the-house-down acceptance speeches. Pretty much anytime he wins an award, it’s must-see TV. That was certainly the case this time around, as Jelly Roll looked to the heavens and started thanking Jesus with the Grammy in his hand:
“First of all, Jesus I hear you and I am listening Lord. I am listening Lord. Second of all, I want to thank my beautiful wife. I would have never changed my life without you. I would have ended up dead or in jail or I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that.”
Jelly Roll went on to thank his record label, and shouted out country radio, which he’s had much success with in his still rising country music career.
Once he got all of that out of the way though, Jelly Roll shifted into evangelist mode and basically told the story of his life, invited others to follow Christ, and proclaimed that the Lord doesn’t belong to one political party over the other:
“There was a time in my life y’all that I was broken. That’s why I wrote this album. I didn’t think I had a chance y’all. There were times where I thought the darkest things and thought I was a horrible human. There was a moment in my life where all I had was a (pocket) Bible this big and a radio the same size in a six-by-eight-foot cell. I believed that those two things could change my life.
I believed that music had the power to change my life, and God had the power to change my life. I want to tell you all right now that Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party. Jesus is not owned by one music label. Jesus is Jesus and anybody can have a relationship with him. I love you Lord.”

PREACH.
Regardless of how you feel about Jelly Roll winning the “Best Contemporary Country Album” award, it’s cool to see a guy with his story (quite literally a living testimony to the power of God) getting up on stage and praising the Lord for everything that He’s blessed him with.
The latest, of course, being Jelly Roll’s first ever Grammy award. The post “Jesus Is For Everybody”: Jelly Roll Praises The Lord In Powerful 2026 Grammys Acceptance Speech first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
