Tyler Childers & Jelly Roll Finally Have Grammys — But These Country Stars Are Still Waiting

Country music had a big night at the 2026 Grammys. This year was the first year that the “Best Country Album” award was split into two categories: “Best Traditional Country Album” and “Best Contemporary Country Album.” Many believe the decision to hand out two Grammys in the country album category was a result of Beyoncé winning “Best Country Album” last year for her Cowboy Carter record. Regardless of why the Grammys decided to do that, turning one award for country into two possible trophies for projects in the genre just means that there are more Grammys to go around from here on. And here’s how the awards shook out for all of the different country music categories at the 2026 Grammy Awards: Best Traditional Country Album Zach Top – Ain’t In It For My Health Best Contemporary Country Album Jelly Roll – Beautifully Broken Best Country Song Tyler Childers – “Bitin’ List” Best Country Duo/Group Performance Shaboozey and Jelly Roll – “Amen” Best Country Solo Performance Chris Stapleton – “Bad As I Used To Be” Jelly Roll and Tyler Childers picked up their first Grammy Awards at the 2026 ceremony (Jelly Roll actually won three, as you can see). And with all of the awards that were handed out last night, it got me thinking… what big-time country music artists haven’t ever won a coveted Grammy award? The list is actually very surprising, and Childers and Jelly Roll would have been on it prior to last night’s Grammys. There’s a large collection of country music artists out there that you would just assume have Grammys sitting in their trophy case. Some have plenty of nominations with no awards won, while others barely have any nominations (or none at all) and have failed to win an award from the Recording Academy. Eric Church (zero wins with 11 nominations) Luke Combs (zero wins with 8 nominations) Martina McBride (zero wins with 14 nominations) Toby Keith (zero wins with 7 nominations) Morgan Wallen (zero wins with 2 nominations) Kelsea Ballerini (zero wins with 6 nominations) Blake Shelton (zero wins with 8 nominations) Cody Johnson (zero wins with 0 nominations) Jamey Johnson (zero wins with 10 nominations) Keith Whitley (zero wins with 3 nominations) Kenny Chesney (zero wins with 6 nominations) Dierks Bentley (zero wins with 15 nominations) Though award-less at the Grammys, Dierks does win the award for most nominations for a country music artist without a win. Not the best list to top, but a list-topper nonetheless. That is unless you count Post Malone as a “country music artist.” He has been as of late, but many of his nomination for Grammys come from his pop and hip-hop releases. He’s 0-18 at the Grammy Awards… But who do you think from that list above is the most surprising? Morgan Wallen has had plenty of success within country music (he’s probably the biggest name in the genre right now), but hasn’t gotten love at the Grammys. Personally, I’d say Eric Church is one of the more shocking names to see on that list, just because he’s done so much throughout his career that can only be described as award-worthy. If you are just looking at most nominations without a single win though… Dierks Bentley and Martina McBride would obviously like a word. The post Tyler Childers & Jelly Roll Finally Have Grammys — But These Country Stars Are Still Waiting first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
