Joe Scarborough's Screaming Anti-ICE Rant, Devoid of All Context

Joe Scarborough went on one of his patented rants on Monday's Morning Joe. All that was missing were a few choice obscenities—an increasingly common part of Joe's shtick.  The object of Scarborough's ire was video of an ICE action he described as taking place in Minneapolis [actually in St. Peter, about 70 miles to the south—close enough for liberal-media work]. An ICE vehicle is shown driving in front of another vehicle, forcing it to stop. Agents jump out, weapons drawn. Predictably, Scarborough slammed the agents as "thugs" and "idiots." He demanded that any agent drawing his weapon when getting out of a car be tried "for assault." Not shooting his weapon—simply drawing it is a crime in Joe's book. Scarborough's Rules of Engagement: suspects are entitled to get the drop on law enforcement. But what was glaringly missing from Scarborough's diatribe was any mention—not even the slightest hint—of what had preceded the stop. For all Joe would have you believe, ICE had randomly chosen to engage with a motorist who had been minding her own business, puttering along at the speed limit, coming to a full stop at all red lights.  Not a word of DHS's statement on the stop [emphasis added]: "As @dhsgov law enforcement conducted a targeted operation to arrest a serial criminal illegal alien whose rap sheet includes multiple arrests for assault, domestic violence, and driving under the influence, an agitator began stalking and obstructing law enforcement.  "Law enforcement officers attempted to pull her over using their emergency lights to issue her a warning. Ignoring law enforcement commands, the agitator refused to pull over and began driving recklessly including running stop signs, nearly colliding with multiple vehicles, and driving directly at law enforcement in an attempt to ram their vehicle. Her actions endangered law enforcement officers, the public, and allowed this violent criminal to remain at large."  "Our officers arrested the agitator. Obstructing law enforcement is a felony and a federal crime." There should be more dashcam video available, whether from the woman's car or ICE's, that will shed light on the situation.  Scarborough's failure to even allude to the DHS take on the incident constituted flagrant journalistic malpractice, and once again exposed his bias. He could only rant away that it's "what looks like a paramilitary legal force let loose on the streets of America to shoot Americans. To terrorize Americans on the streets of America." Note: Scarborough's screeching was so extreme that even Mika admitted that he had been "loud." Yet she rode to his defense, claiming all those decibels were "worth every word." We'd say Joe averaged about a 7 on the 1-10 scale, but perhaps in an homage to the late Rob Reiner, producer and star of Spinal Tap, occasionally turned it up to 11.  Here's the transcript. MS NOW Morning Joe 2/2/26 6:05 am ET JOE SCARBOROUGH: We continue to still see videos coming out of Minneapolis. We continue to still see, I think one of the most compelling videos and one of the most frightening videos, but also one of the most clarifying videos yesterday that I saw came, I believe it was from this weekend, but I'll get a confirmation on it, where a woman is driving down the Minneapolis street, and cars are swerving wildly to cut her off.  And she, what does she do? She's so lawless. Oh my God, [begins to scream] she's so lawless! How could she hate the law so much that she starts calling the police? Think about this.  In America, in America. [video of stop begins to roll.] MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Look at this. SCARBOROUGH: Look at these thugs! Look, look, look, and he comes out with a gun, and he gets in front of the car. They're pointing the gun. They're telling her to come out. They're yelling at her. So what does she do? She's desperately calling the police, desperately asking people to call 911. Get that, Republicans? She's not calling the National Hippie Network. She's not calling -- [Screams] Look at this guy in front of the car.  MIKA: The gun.  SCARBOROUGH: [Screams] Get trained! Get trained before you draw your gun, you idiot.  But what is she doing? Is she calling Antifa, Fox News? N-o-o-o, she's not calling Antifa. She's calling the police, begging the police to come save her from what looks like a paramilitary legal force let loose on the streets of America to shoot Americans. To terrorize Americans on the streets of America. And the police officer comes, Mika, and he drives her home. He comes and he breaks up the paramilitary thugs, and it is the police officer, not Antifa -- MIKA: The chief of police. SCARBOROUGH: -- not the National Hippie Network, not leftists. A police officer comes and takes her home/   Look at this. When these thugs come out of their car, standing in front of a car, drawing a gun, look at them! In America, this is happening. This is still happening in [screams] your country. This is an undisciplined paramilitary force that does not answer to anyone, obviously, because they're still doing this.  And she calls 911. She calls the police. She's not asking to defund the police. She's asking to be saved from these thugs by the police.  MIKA: They don't know what they're doing.  SCARBOROUGH: By the police. You don't know what they're doing. But what they do know is that they're willing to draw. I'll tell you what. Anybody in charge of this force that says, if you get out of a car, so help me God, and you draw your guns, you draw your guns, you know what? We're going to try you. We're going to try you for assault.  This is so out of control, and it looks like a paramilitary force from the Third World.  MIKA: Yeah. Joe, it's early, it's loud, and yet that was worth every word, every word you just said. Because this is where we are, and it is traumatizing a nation.
