Throwback To Ella Langley Joining Zach Top For Killer Performance Of “Sounds Like The Radio” Back In 2024

Oh, how time flies. If you asked any country fan back in 2024 about Zach Top and Ella Langley, chances are they’d tell you that the pair were well on their way to becoming stars, but, more than likely, a couple of years away from true superstar status. And honestly, I would have been right there with them. At the time, Top was fresh off the release of his debut album, Cold Beer & Country Music, and while he was undoubtedly a buzzy name thanks to “Use Me” and “Sounds Like the Radio” catching fire online, the Washington native was still opening up for the likes of Flatland Cavalry, Brothers Osborne, Lainey Wilson and more. All the writing was on the wall for Top to become a superstar; however, he wasn’t quite there yet. Langley, on the other hand, was staring down the barrel of superstardom. If you recall, back in May of 2024, she catapulted to the top of the charts upon the release of her first duet with Riley Green, “you look like you love me.” At this point, it should go without saying just how popular that song has remained, even as we sit in 2026. With a staggering 301 million streams on Spotify alone, over 829,000 unique uses on TikTok, consistent placement in the Top 10 on platforms such as Touchtunes and a 3x platinum certification from the RIAA, the track has been nothing short of a smash hit for the Alabama native. As alluded to earlier, however, I don’t think anyone could have predicted just how big the pair truly has gotten over the past two years. From an awards perspective, the duo has been dominant. Langley, in particular, has been nothing short of an awards show darling, bringing in a staggering seven CMA and ACM Awards throughout 2024 and 2025 for “you look like you love me” alone. Additionally, she’d grab New Female Artist of the Year at the 2024 ACM Awards as well. Top, while having fewer awards in total, has notched an even more notable trophy. Along with joining Langley in 2024 by winning New Male Artist of the Year at the ACMs, he’d also win New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards last November, which he accepted with a Coors Banquet in his hand. Even more notably, last Sunday, he made history by taking home the first-ever Best Traditional Country Album award at the 68th Grammy Awards. Fresh off Top making history at the Grammys on Sunday, Langley is gearing up to make history her own with her smash hit single, “Choosin’ Texas,” which has been sweeping the nation as of late. Currently sitting at #2 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, if the track goes #1 next week, she will become just the seventh female artist IN HISTORY to score a #1 hit on the chart with a country song. Beyond that potential feat, recently, “Choosin’ Texas” has also surpassed Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” as the best-selling song of the year so far in the U.S. All that is to say, this throwback performance of Top and Langley performing “Sounds Like the Radio” back in November 2024 at Whiskey Jam in Nashville is nothing short of a great performance and time capsule. As we sit today, a team-up between the two superstars would dominate headlines for weeks, but at the time, it was just another Tuesday night (literally) in Music City. If you’ve never seen the performance before, check it out below. You won’t want to miss it.
