Amputees Become Shoe Trading Sole Mates After Years of Searching for a Match

Ruben Chops, a tattoo artist and body piercer in California, found himself with a dilemma. Ruben, an amputee, only wears one shoe. But as we all know, shoes come in pairs. Ruben wound up with piles of right-foot shoes and no one to give them to. He often posted on social media about trying to find his “sole mate,” but wound up pretty discouraged. Little did Ruben know that a man named Richard faced the same issue. Amazingly, the men both wear the same size shoes and had their opposite leg amputated. This was a true match made in heaven. Ruben and Richard are Sole Mates Ruben shared a photo of his sole mate, Richard, on Facebook along with a sweet caption. “Feels great to finally find someone after so many years that I can trade shoes with. Unfortunately, I had just thrown so many away this last year, I was only able to offer 5 right shoes, but my boy shows up with 12 lefts,” Ruben wrote. “Thank you, Richard!” Those who know Ruben loved seeing his story. “Hey brother, Ruben, what a great story to share man, brighten of my day a little bit. Hope you’re well. God bless,” someone wrote. “Ok, my gosh, what an amazing thing. And man, what are the odds that it happened so unexpectedly? Amazing…hoping you can share this great opportunity with many more people… love the name,” another person shared. “That is so cool. Well, now you’ll start saving your shoes to give back to him,” someone pointed out.
