Two people were also found dead in a house near the school.
Authorities believe it was connected to the school shooting.
Fox News has more details:
The Tumbler Ridge Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed to Fox News Digital that officers responded to reports of an active shooter at the school at 1:20 p.m. local time Tuesday. While searching the school, officers found six victims dead from gunshot wounds and a person believed to be the suspect dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted injury.
Two victims were airlifted to a hospital with serious or life-threatening injuries, police said, and a third victim died while being transported to the hospital.
During the investigation, police identified a secondary location believed to be connected to the incident, where two additional victims were found dead inside a residence.
Approximately 25 others with non-life-threatening injuries were taken for assessment at the local medical center, police said.
“This was a rapidly evolving and dynamic situation, and the swift cooperation from the school, first responders, and the community played a critical role in our response,” Superintendent Ken Floyd, North District Commander, said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the families, loved ones, and all those impacted by this tragic incident. This has been an incredibly difficult and emotional day for our community, and we are grateful for the cooperation shown as officers continue their work to advance the investigation.”
All remaining students and staff were safely evacuated from the school, police said.
Police do not believe there are any additional suspects or ongoing threat to the public.
At this time, authorities have not released any official information about the suspect.
But, they are using some very strange, woke wording about the suspect, leading many people to suspect it was probably another transgender man.
Watch how the police are talking about the shooter:

Local police are referring to the shooter as a “gunperson.”

Independent journalist Andy Ngo noted that police described the suspect as a “woman in a dress”:

Female school m—ss shooters are exceptionally rare. There have only been a handful ever in the U.S. I haven’t been able to find any examples in Canada before.
It’s important to note that Canadian police use self-identity language for a suspect’s sex.
Here’s the alert, along with a post from someone claiming to be from Tumbler Ridge who says the shooter was a “young man dressed up as a girl”:
A mentally ill man dressing up in women’s clothes went on a mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, BC.
10 dead including the shooter.
So yes, this is yet another trans shooting.
Please pray for EVERYONE in this small town. pic.twitter.com/quasNMRbG1

Transgender violence is truly an epidemic.
This is so sad.
It hits especially hard because it happened in such a small, close-knit town.
Tumbler Ridge Secondary School only has between 160-175 students total.
The New York Times noted that this is the third-deadliest mass shooting in Canadian history:
The shooting in Tumbler Ridge is the third deadliest mass shooting in Canada, along with a 1996 shooting in Vernon, British Columbia, that resulted in 10 deaths. The only deadlier shootings include one in 1989, when a gunman entered an engineering class at Montreal’s École Polytechnique, killing 14 women. The suspect, Marc Lépine, killed himself. In 2020, Gabriel Wortman killed 22 people across northern Nova Scotia before he was shot and killed by police.
Liberal Canadian PM Mark Carney released a statement:
I am devastated by today’s horrific shootings in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. My prayers and deepest condolences are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones to these horrific acts of violence. I join Canadians in grieving with those whose lives have been changed…

I am devastated by today’s horrific shootings in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. My prayers and deepest condolences are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones to these horrific acts of violence.
I join Canadians in grieving with those whose lives have been changed irreversibly today, and in gratitude for the courage and selflessness of the first responders who risked their lives to protect their fellow citizens.
Our ability to come together in crisis is the best of our country — our empathy, our unity, and our compassion for each other.
I have connected with Premier Eby to express my condolences, and with the Minister of Public Safety, Gary Anandasangaree, who is coordinating the federal response.
Our officials are in close contact with their counterparts to ensure the community is fully supported as best we can. The Government of Canada stands with all British Columbians as they confront this horrible tragedy.
Please pray for all of the students, staff, and their loved ones at that school.
Absolutely terrible.
