“Best Song I’ve Heard From That Guy”: Jason Aldean & Brantley Gilbert Respond To Zach Bryan’s “Dirt Road Anthem” Parody

Add two more artists to Zach’s bitin’ list. These days, it’s becoming hard to point to artists that Zach Bryan hasn’t found himself at odds with. As we know, he’s had some fairly long-lasting beefs with the likes of John Mooreland, shade thrown at him by Drayton Farley and most notably, the incredibly long feud with Gavin Adcock that resulted in the “Something in the Orange” jumping a fence at Born & Raised Fest in an attempt to fight Adcock. Now, it looks like both Jason Aldean and Brantley Gilbert are among those taking aim at the Oklahoma native. In case you missed it, let me catch you up to speed. Over the weekend, Bryan found himself in hot water once again, taking aim at Turning Point’s alternative halftime show, which featured Kid Rock, Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert and more as performers. First, he’d take to his Instagram story, sharing his friend, Harley Carmichael, jokingly watching the TPUSA halftime show on his phone while blocking out Bad Bunny with his hand. He’d add his own commentary mocking Kid Rock: “What kid rock actually thinks is happening across America” While he clarified that Carmichael actually watched the Bad Bunny halftime show with him, apparently, his joke upset quite a few people (because of course it did). The “Something in the Orange” singer took to Instagram to share some of the messages he received, while also doubling down and slamming the Turning Point USA halftime show: “I don’t care what side you’re on, a bunch of adults throwing temper tantrums and their own halftime show is embarrassing as hell and the most cringe s— on the planet” Though it seemed as if the dust had settled, it looks like the Oklahoma native wasn’t done trolling just yet. On Tuesday night, he and Carmichael took to Instagram to post an elaborate chili dog-inspired parody of Jason Aldean’s 2011 #1 hit, “Dirt Road Anthem,” which was originally written by Brantley Gilbert along with Colt Ford, clearly taking aim and trolling both Gilbert and the “Try That In a Small Town” singer following the alternative halftime viewing where Gilbert performed it. View this post on Instagram Flipping “Dirt Road Anthem’s” chorus, Bryan and Carmichael would hilariously sing: “Chili on a hot dog I’m talkin’ ’bout chili on a hot dog Motherf****** chili on a hot dog I’m double-fistin’ chili on my hot dog I need a dog. I got a bad itch Throw in some mustard and some relish Every day is like a ball game Got myself a white shirt with a chili stain” They’d also drop two verses, all about chili, of course, rapping the same way Aldean did back in 2011. Some of the highlights include taking a completely unwarranted shot at Chicago-style hot dogs, Bryan calling himself a “mother****** hot dog chili man” and Carmichael looking for a “chili wife.” View this post on Instagram All things considered, I’d say it was a pretty good troll from Bryan. Unlike some of the drama you see going around the genre lately, he wasn’t directly attacking Gilbert or Aldean. Instead, he was mainly just poking fun at a song from the pair that has remained controversial since its (mainstream) release back in 2011. It seems like Gilbert felt the same way. Last night, he took to Instagram to post a TikTok “duet” style video of Bryan’s parody song, and it was pretty hilarious, too. View this post on Instagram Responding to the lyrics in Bryan’s parody, the “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do” singer would stand in his kitchen, preparing two massive chili dogs while jokingly jamming to the song. Putting mustard and relish on the dog as well as double fisting them while the Oklahoma native sang the respective lyrics, it was arguably the best response he could have given. Gilbert would throw some shade Bryan’s way, referencing the near-fight with Adcock in the caption: “Zach Bryan, you can climb all the fences you want, you’re not getting my chili dog” Fellow artists such as Chase Rice, Tyler Farr and Travis Denning would get in on the fun in the comment section. “Get your brass knuckles ready” – Chase Rice “Amazing” – Tyler Farr “I’m bringing a chili dog on stage in two weeks” – Travis Denning Despite Gilbert seemingly taking it on the chin and delivering a hilarious response of his own, it seems as if Aldean wasn’t too enthused with Bryan’s trolling. Taking to Gilbert’s comments, he’d say: “Best song I’ve heard from that guy. “   With that being said, however, the “Try That In a Small Town” singer lightened the mood a bit. After a Instagram user responded to Aldean by saying Bryan’s parody was “better than your version even as a joke,” he’d laugh it off by saying: “I’m sure some people would definitely agree with ya“ I think the next logical step for Bryan would be to write a “Try That In a Small Town” parody to truly bring this “beef” full circle. Something tells me that’s just wishful thinking, but I honestly wouldn’t put anything past him at this point. At the same time, it’s fun to see country artists trade some light-hearted trolling without it escalating into the type of Adcock/Bryan beef we’ve seen in the past. It all reminds me of this viral version of “Jack & Diane.” The post “Best Song I’ve Heard From That Guy”: Jason Aldean & Brantley Gilbert Respond To Zach Bryan’s “Dirt Road Anthem” Parody first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
