In the wake of James’ death, Steven Spielberg and his wife, Kate Capshaw, donated $25,000 to the Van Der Beek’s GoFundMe. It’s one of the fundraiser’s top donations, helping the family to amass nearly $2 million. The Van Der Beek family shared a message of gratitude to all of the generous donors. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for showing up for James and his beautiful family. Your kindness has meant more than we can put into words. In the middle of deep grief, your support has been a light.
