Bride and Groom Tearfully Drop Surprise Moments After Saying ‘I Do’
A beautiful bride is making headlines after her touching tribute to the stranger who saved her life.
Thanks to one selfless act of kindness, Kaedi and Mikey Cecala are living out their love story. The couple recently married in a gorgeous ceremony, surrounded by their closest friends and family. And it was possible because a once complete stranger named Karol Zwierzyński donated his stem cells through an anonymous registry.
In 2020, Kaedi was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome—or MDS, which is a rare blood cancer that attacks the bone marrow. Around one in three patients with the disease will develop acute myeloid leukemia, which is life-threatening. She needed stem cells to fight, so doctors began their search for a perfect match.
A Pole became a stem cell donor for an American woman — and years later attended her wedding This touching story took place in the United States and became widely known in February 2026. “I remember leaving and going to get a bite to eat at a pizza place right around the corner,” Mikey told GMA. “And it just hit me that, like we were in it, you know?”
The Bride Found Her “Angel”
Mikey was by his future bride’s side every step of the way as they hoped and prayed for her health. And like a miracle, a match came through. But due to strict confidentiality rules, Kaedi wasn’t allowed to know who was donating his stem cells.
“I remember looking, and it’s just like, who is this person and my angel, honestly,” she shared.
The transplant saved her life and led to her remission.
Kaedi and Mikey continued their romance and went on to get engaged. While Kaedi was planning her big day, she knew she needed her “angel” to watch her walk down the aisle. Because the confidentiality rules only last one to two years, she was able to track down Karol, who was living in Poland. He gladly booked a flight.
After the couple sealed their vows with a kiss, they turned around and shocked their loved ones with the big reveal.
“So this is living proof that angels do exist,” Mikey said through tears before announcing that their “guest of honor” was present.
“I’m not a hero here,” Zwierzyński humbly said with a smile. “So please raise your glasses for Kaedi.”
Kaedi Cecala remains cancer-free today, thanks to the donations. And before stepping away from the microphone, Zwierzyński reminded how one act can have a ripple effect, and he urged the guests to consider becoming donors, too, noting that “Somewhere out there, your Kaedi might be waiting for you.”
