During the most recent airing of The View, Goldberg admitted that his name appears in the Epstein files. However, she quickly downplayed her appearance in the files and explained she was only mentioned because she was looking for a private plane to attend a charity event. People provided the full scoop on Goldberg’s response to being in the Epstein files: Whoopi Goldberg has addressed her name being found in the Epstein files, insisting it doesn’t mean she’s guilty of any wrongdoing. In an episode of The View that aired Tuesday, Feb. 17, Goldberg talked about her name being in the Epstein files, evidence collected by the Department of Justice in relation to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Goldberg, 70, addressed the matter with co-hosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines saying, “In the name of transparency, my name is in the files. Yes. And what does it say? It says, ‘Whoopi needs a plane to get to Monaco. John Lennon’s charity’ — it should say Julian Lennon’s charity — ‘is paying for it.” She went on to explain that the charity was reaching out to private plane owners in order to arrange for her transportation. “They give all the information. Honey, come on. Every man I’ve been with, you’ve known about him because either the Enquirer wrote about it. People wrote about this stuff. So, no,” Goldberg said, adding, “I didn’t get on the plane because you know what I would have to do to get on the plane?” Goldberg was referencing her famed fear of flying, which lasted for over three decades after she witnessed a mid-air collision in 1978. She overcame her phobia around 1990 by taking a course and learning to use medication to manage her anxiety. Hundreds of high-profile figures — including Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe – have been named in the Epstein files, although the overwhelming majority of the Department of Justice’s files on Epstein reportedly remain unpublished.
